Noise has been the only complaint with my RX10m4. I really don’t like to go above 800 if at all possible. But, my keeper rate went up a bunch over my A6k and A77ii. Still, if I manage to get all the options right with either of the two crop sensors those photos will be sharper and give me more capability to crop into other compositions (I find I always seem to want to reach out further than whatever lens I’m using). Bottom line for me though is that I use the RX10m4 99% of the time. Might be time to turn loose of the others.

At first that was a concern - but shooting raw, avoiding underexposure and processing the raw file in Capture One Pro Sony really mitigated that noise issue. This was taken at ISO 6400, at night in poor light.

That possibility was in the back of my mind it was after all a quasi private affair. When she spotted me her expression was not too happy. She was constantly surrounded by makeup artists dabbing at her body, fluffing her hair. I wondered how many warts could she possibly have to require that much work! They were there for 2 days I was told, about a dozen people, three new vans, SCUBA pros, etc. some one was spending lots of $$$$ and I suspected would be protecting their investment. I didn't go close enough to ask, there was a chilly wind blowing (notice the parkas) and I wanted to get back to the warm car. LOL

I think MUAs may be cheaper than top shelf retouching artists. And good creative directors are almost impossible to please. So the constant theme on a shoot like this is "spare no expense!"

Shots at ISO 6400 are quite recoverable and far easier to fix than blurry images!

The best camera, sensor size and lens is the one that you like to use, gets the photos you want and that you have with you. After that, it's all personal preference. Personally, I started digitally with a Pentax but later switched to mirrorless Sony 3N which I liked. Later I switched to a Sony 6000 with a 24mp sensor and, low and behold, it has a viewfinder which I had really missed. After a bit, I added a Sony 6500 and several lenses, mostly Sony and one Sigma (16mm) which I use about every other day for various self-initiated projects and to get out of the house during this Covid time. I also bought, about 1 1/2 years ago, a Sony RX100-VA when we were traveling out of the country where I didn't want to be obtrusive in my street photo-taking and that was so easy to pack and carry around easily. All of them have taken many photos I enjoy. Oh, so does my Samsung cell phone (8+ currently). There you go. Sensor sizes? They vary from Tiny, to Smallish (20mp) to apsc (24mp). Each has advantages but, when one takes those into account when shooting and processing, the photos from them all are, for me, enjoyable to take and to see afterwards. Judging from Instagram likes, apparently other folks like them too...and no one has ever asked what size sensor recorded the picture. So, shoot what you like with what you like. Have fun doing it!

And your positive contribution would be? What you posted sounds even more negative than anything else posted in this thread. Just sayin'
