I haven't seen anyone else post pictures from the launch of the SpaceX starship on December 9th, so here are the images I got on that day, taken from about 5 miles away in Port Isabel Texas. The sight and sound of it were incredible. Due to the distance, the sound was delayed for a few seconds.

Good pictorial, great shots!

Reminds me of all the rockets I saw explode while growing up with rockets (Vandenburg and KSC - Dad was in most of the programs form 1960 on, retired from Shuttle) and I got to participate in 68 Space Shuttle missions during my tenure. He retired before I made it to the Space Program, so we never got to work together, or be at KSC together.... great memories, Go USA!!!

That is so cool you saw that! I watched 'live' online. Had no idea what the heck was going on, as this rocket is strange even by Elon Musk standards.

It needs to be able to do the landing maneuver when it gets to mars. It appears there may be another launch in about 2 weeks as they’ve moved S/N9 out to the launch pad and have begun pressure testing.

It was. We waited 5 hours the day before only to have the mission aborted at T minus :01 second. The sound was incredible with 3 raptor motors. Can’t wait for the heavy lift booster with 27 raptors.

Great shots. It's so wonderful to see the U.S. getting into the space race again, even if it is through a private company. Mahalo for sharing and Hauoli Makahiki Hou and stay safe and healthy.

LOL with Elon Musk’s billions, he can be pretty cavalier about blowing up a 216 million dollar rocket.
