A week or 10 days ago I posted the well recognized stuck ink cartridge in my Canon imageprograf Pro-1000 printer. There were a number of replies and most had a work-around because Canon didn't have a solution. That has changed for the better. My printer was 3 years out of warrantee. I called Canon and explained that I knew the problem was well known on line with Canon owners. I was not angry, just wondering if they, Canon, had a solution yet. The tech I talked with was very polite, very understanding, very knowledgeable, and very good at CYA for Canon. He said he was a software guy and he'd check with hardware. About 2 minutes later he returned and double checked the serial number on my printer. He already had the number, as the printer had been registered the day it arrived from B&H. When my serial number checked, he said it had taken Canon quite a long time to isolate the cause of the problem. They now know the the number series that received one or more bad springs that Canon had received. To solve the problem and be fair with their customers, they're going to ship me, and other owners with the problem, a new printer! Long live Canon! Yesterday afternoon my new printer arrived. It is new, not a rebuilt model. I now have to put my defective printer back in the shipping box, place the return label, which was included with the new printer, on the box, call Fed Ex for a pickup, and it's a done deal. I hope all you other guys & gals with a defective pro-1000 printer have the same good fortune I received.

Glad you got the results desired. Had a similar incident with Canon and the Pro-100. They sent me another printer long after the warranty had expired.

Excellent. Our Canon Pro -100 is excellent to say the least with OEM ink

Top Marks for Canon. I've had similar amazing support with a camcorder problem that wasn't even Canon's fault.

Epsom wouldn't give you that service.

Neither would Epson.

WOW! Canon has changed. Some years back, I had a problem with a Canon Scanner, when I called their Customer Service, described my problem and the response to me was: "Good Luck"! Click.

I've used Canon customer service for years and have nothing short of outstanding customer service.

Sidwalkastronomy Same here. Since my earlier comment I've remembered another occasion when I had a camcorder that was years out of warranty and had a problem caused by my assistant cameraman. Canon saw it as a problem that should not have arisen and instead of me scrapping the unit it was collected, repaired at their workshops and returned to me completely free. Their service support is amazing.

Does Canon's high quality customer service extend to their camera's (looking to the near future)?

yes no question. All telephone service for cameras is in America and very knowledgeable. I have a few rebels, love them. 77D, t7i, t3i and xsi. I would check out full frame mirror less and get state of the art. if they aren't in your budget the 77D with the 18-135 zoom lens is a good deal. Look for a 2 lens combo. 75-270 or 75-300. one is better and I think its the 75-250. so give up extra 50 mm for better lens. please check this info.
B and H will let you mix and match.

Thanks. I'm considering FF mirrorless, so it's nice to know that they back their products. Currently M4/3, but customer service for Olympus and Pansonic has not been impressive by report.

I suspect full frame mirrorless and M4/3 are really two different worlds in terms of customer demographics, but I for one had superb service from Olympus on an EM-1 that I bought used and was long out of warranty. It came up with a problem that was fairly common for that model, and Olympus repaired it quickly for just the cost of my shipping the body to them. Remains to be seen whether that will continue after the recent change of ownership. (I have not had to call on Panasonic for service on one of their cameras, so have no data there.)

You could easily be right re the demographics. I haven't needed to use the service dept for either Panasonic or Olympus, but it seemed like a lot of people on the various forums posted about problems. FF has had an appeal, as has Fujifilm's X series and I have been considering making a change. Since I have time, I've been trying to do a little research. Thanks for your reply.

Sadly, hadn't worked for me. I have 2.4 year old printer, gently used, which now has 4 cartridges stuck. I spent some time on multiple support forums and finally contacted Canon technical support USA, based one what I read above.

I explained the problem and was told to go the local repair shop and pay for the work, as the printer is out of warranty. I will the quote and if it is high I am going back to Epson I used for the previous 12 years. This is not a high quality professional support in my book.
