Hi Thomas.
Another beautiful image and an incredible capture of vitality + sensuality together! From the model's swept back hair and the lifting of the edges of her shirt, am I correct in thinking that a fan was used? Her catchlights show 3 light sources in front of her. But her back also seems to be rimmed with light, so was there a 4th light as well? I'm always trying to learn more. Thanks for replying.

Thank you so much for your wonderful words NMY... they are indeed truly appreciated!
"...thinking that a fan was used?"
Not a major "fan" of fans NMY. After chatting with my ophthalmologist on the aforementioned I realized it was not in the best interest of the talent... Hair blown into the eyes can actually cause irritation of the conjunctiva a delicate membrane which cover and protect the eye.... even simply the air from a fan can affect tear film stability... Yes I'm aware that some commercial shooters use fans... I'm not one of them...
btw, I hold a cosmetologist license from the state of Maryland in makeup artistry... as such I'm keenly aware of an inflammation of the conjunctiva called Conjunctivitis... This is the absolute ban of Fashion Runway Shows where MUA's working under tight time constrains will "double dip" mascara wands after running out of new wands... This leads to massive outbreaks of Conjunctivitis amide the models... In my mind the health and safety of my team ALWAYS comes first, period!
"her back also seems to be rimmed with light"
Good eye NMY ! Yes a 40x60 inch softbox on camera left provided the separation necessary to showcase her powder blue blouse and form fitting jeans...
Hope this helps NMY...
btw, lovely portraiture of A Lady you posted on Nov 30, 2020
Please keep up the good work! Thanks!

Thank you for sharing your methods, Thomas. I'm filing this one away in the rugae of my brain to be summoned when I learn more indoor portraiture.

Glad you found this image of merit NMY
Oh I forgot to let you know as to how this talent's hair was elevated...
She preformed a "Sauté" ballet leap to become airborne and I captured her just after reaching the zenith of the jump... thus her hair was now gently falling back down...
Dancers need to not use arms or shoulders to get into the air. They actual need to be able to place their arms, head, etc. wherever the choreography requires. We had worked out the graceful configuration of her hands before she executed this move...
Ballerinas have superb leg strength... they have oft been compared to professional football players in the development of their lower body physique... to see them preform live on stage is surreal and breathtaking...
Again many thanks NMY

Thanks, Thomas. I figured there had to be some leaping action if not any blowing fan for your beautiful capture of a lovely ballerina.

Outstanding Thomas. I really like the lighting, the pose, and the pure "capture of the moment". If I tried to find something to criticize, it would not be genuine.
Many thanks for your very kind words gym...
Albeit it is the ballerina here who deserves all the credit...
Best wishes for a fabulous and safe New Year ahead gym
Thank you for your very kind words A10... I truly appreciate your support on this Prêt-à-Porter Fashion rendering...
My sincere compliments on your Mar 7, 2020 post entitled "Portrait of a friend".
The second image in this enchanting series is absolutely stellar!
You bonded superbly with your talent in this rendering as her warm mesmerizing gaze reveals.
Epic pose dynamic...
Having her hands slightly behind the front of her face allows those beautiful eyes to dominate...
Such graceful curves to her fingers...
She obviously is highly skilled in portraiture, and brings her gift in photographic artistry to the image equation...
Kudos to the both of you
