Well, I am sure there are scanners available that will scan more than four slides at a time but the cost will be quite a bit more. Epson has a number of scanners. Search among them. I am sure that there are professional scanners available if you are willing to pay the price. I am quite happy with my Epson V600.

Deseret Industries is not a commercial store but is a series of stores operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as part of its social services network for those in need. The duplicator I found was donated by someone and I happened to find it when I stopped there on a break. Most of the more than thirty old cameras I have in my collection were found there. Back in South Carolina they have Salvation Army stores which are similar in purpose.
Ahh, that explains it! I thought you mentioned them as a source for new goods.
We have Salvation Army stores in NC, too. Goodwill Industries is another local operation with the same approach.
One mention about the Epson V600 and other scanners with Digital ICE... Applied Science Fiction, the makers of the Digital ICE hardware and software, is no longer around. Kodak Alaris bought them, and when it became clear the software would have to be updated for modern 64-bit operating systems (and now ARM systems), they discontinued support. So Epson is stuck with a scanner driver (Epson Scan) that only runs on operating systems that can handle 32-bit code. Epson Scan 2 runs on the 64-bit systems, but does not support ICE because it is no longer licensed.
HOWEVER, Epson has a link on their website to download a third party scanner driver, SilverFast SE, that supports the hardware side of ICE built into the scanner.
