What would you call new & not used or opened (in five letters or less)?

I can do it in three. Starts with n and ends w.

If you were looking for true NIB why buy from Ebay, you are looking for a good deal or if you want true NIB buy from a business. Again either the price was right which is what attracted you so buyer beware. Are you now going to complain that the item purchased has no warranty or the manufacture will not warranty the product because it was not purchased from an authorized dealer. Ebay is a place that there is few guarantees other than buyer beware. I buy on Ebay a lot, I know that there are few guarantees and leave appropriate feedback on each purchase. What frustrates me a lot is people buy on Ebay and never leave feedback good bad or negative without taking it personal, it a business transaction. Why look to a forum for a collective input contact the seller with your concern, see what they say. Going to a forum seems like a total waste of time other than getting feed back from very negative to support, you obviously are not happy with the purchase talk to the seller.

Welcome to Ebay - where scammers and cheaters go to roost!

That sounds like a CHG_CANONism.
For some who think that this is a bizarre or pretty obvious post, may have not done transactions with EBay at all or limited. We should be honored the OP has come here with this question. Let’s be considerate and not harsh.

It's just a shutter count issue. Less than 10 new more than that not new.

NIB (to me) means that you are buying an item that has never been used and is essentially how it came from the factory. You have not received that. The camera, although pristine, has been used and the original charger and paperwork is absent.

I think the camera the OP bought would have hundred if not thousand actuations. The camera is used the way I see it. I think the seller said NIB only meant it comes with the box. The seller didn't include everything that came with the camera when new.

I read your post with the Ebay add, you missed every red flag that there could be, the photos shows the camera not in the box, the seller only had "9" on his feed back with a post that said he sold items not as described. You have the opportunity to see all of this and still buy it I really don't understand. Then come to the blog looking for support. The seller is a pawn shop I again just don't understand!!!

My thoughts exactly why here? Maybe the poster is trolling us?

Why and how would I be trolling you? What would be in it for me? I wanted an honest opinion from the community, not the BS you're peddling. Get a life.

Unfortunately and sadly, NIB can mean:

New In Box
Not In Box
Never In Brooklyn
Nathan Is Barfing
Nancy Is Baffled
Nothing is Bad
Nothing Is Believable...

... or anything the seller wants it to mean, UNLESS the seller clearly defines the meaning of the acronym within an ad or on the same site.

Caveat Emptor was true in ancient Rome, and still is. Buyer beware! Trust, but verify.

The sting of poor quality lives on long after the pleasure of paying a low price. That's why I buy used goods from KEH.com and MPB.com, and new or used goods from B&H, or Adorama, or a local camera store if there is one (nearest is 76 miles from my house). All of them — with the exception of some local stores — offer either the US importer's warranty, or an in-house used goods warranty. I may pay a bit more, but I get what I pay for. I trust the four dealers I mentioned. I've always been pleased with their performance

The few times I've used eBay, I've checked seller ratings, seller experience, feedback reports, and anything the seller detailed about the item. I once had an opportunity to buy a used lens for a third of its current list price. The guy who was selling it had a low rating, with few sales. As soon as I saw that, I moved on.
