If that works for you - go right on ahead :)

Haha...actually not worth the trouble. But if I wanted to make the gunslinger big, I could! ;0) I like my "real" cameras, too, doncha know!

Nope - I've done the tests myself.

This is physics - 12MP wont stand up to 24MP and the same is true up the scale.

Also there is no getting around the noise of a micro sensor in a phone - bottom line - there is a thing called physics and you can cheat it but not break it.

Yes, they look good on screens and in small formats - make a big blow up and compare side by side and you will see that they do not stand up.

Do it for yourself - then judge.

I suspect you are comparing 12Mp Jpegs against 24Mp Jpegs?

I recently participated in an F-Stoppers experiment comparing images form a D850 and an I-Phone in combination with a Profoto strobe.

Each image was processed then reviewed by a large number of people who were asked to pick the best between them. The I-Phone won 55% to 45%.

I was in the minority but still very impressed.

I can only image where the technology will be in a few years with phones, strobes/flashes and AI processing.

Wish I was 10 years younger.

Comparisons only valid if shots are similar with similarbackgrounds. Evaluators could easily be swayed by lush backgrouds or ocean scenes on this shoot.

Is there anyone who has not yet seen an Apple iPhone billboard?

It answers the question “How large can you blow up an iPhone image!
It all depends on viewing distance!

Yes - this for images on the web this is true - trying blowing up those iphone photos - they fall apart.

Define blowing up. I think you might be pleasantly surprised at how big you can go with an IPhone image.

I am sure an IPhone will never take photographs as for as as a top line Canon or Nikon DSLR as you can change the range of your lenses and alter the iOS to suit the lighting conditions, or change aperture to suit depth of field

It was my understanding that IPhones saved its pics in HEIC formats. How do you change this format to JEPGs and what happens to the file size between formats?? Does IPhones allow you to save pics as JEPGs at the time the photos are taken?? Some post processor software will accept HEIC's and others will NOT.

To reduce file size, Iphone can use HEIF/HEVC format. Not good! You can set your phone to capture in Most Compatible JPEG/H.264. To do this, go to your settings, then scroll down to you see Camera>Formats> then check the Most Compatible.

I'm 90 and I sure wish that I was 10 years younger. And it has nothing to do with photography! Harry

It may be an expensive iPhone but it's still a point-and-shoot.

I'm not surprised by the photos taken by the iPhone-- I think modern technology will render many older cameras obsolete unless you just want to use them out of habit. The photo technology of pictures taken from space is astounding as well as pictures taken of the galaxies, etc. in the cosmos. It takes time but there is a lot of progress that can be made now and in the future-----

I read the othere day that the Samsung V20 had 108 mp on a 1 1/8 inch sensor. There was a lot more to it but it sounded impressive to me. I have a cheap cell and it takes amazing pics. The future is in your pocket.

That’s what I figured from your statement.

You need to try enlargements from 12 bit-depth raw image data files!
