It will take how many hours to charge using how much diesel? Diesel, being a fuel that burns dirtier than gasoline. It seems we are going backwards in our progress.

A very ironic visual.
Today's diesel engines burn very clean except for particular matter which is basically "dust". Vehicle diesel motors have afterburners which burn a fluid to assist. Not as dirty as yesterdays diesel exhaust. The black smoke you sometime see is THE particular matter, if any at all. They must meet today's Federal clean air standards.

I bet that engine burns less than a gallon an hour. The math might actually work onthis one.

Let's remember this is in the the Australian Outback. The cost (and fuel consumption) in manufacturing a cable and laying it far outweighs the diesel. There's going to be a few hits installing a charging network.

To complete this picture:I see behind the diesel engine a crude oil processing plant and then an oil pumping station and then a oil drilling rig.

Ultimately the electricity is produced by a generator somewhere - it doesn't just come out of the wall socket magically.

A charging network will never be efficient with today’s technology. Just to start with, the ecological damage done from building and producing batteries is beyond any environmental benefit that will ever be obtained.

So what? Let's go back to horse and buggies. Start now and I'll meet up with you in about a week.
