May I ask why a desktop vs a laptop? Besides the editing of pics (which is an issue), I am just curious.
I am typing this on a Macpro "cheesegrater" 5,1.
Dual boot High Sierra and Window 10, right now.
2x 4tb for bulk in-place storage, plus 2x 3tb, a 2tb plus a SSD to boot. With.
6 core 3.3 CPU. 48gb ram. 4gb AMD. Added 3.1 USB card.
Added the Blu-Ray reader/writer. 2x Noctua fans at @ 10.5 volts.
AND a friend of a kid of a friend works at Wally World, and I picked up a new open box screen.
It's oldish but brand new, in warranty. No accessories and the bolt bag didn't match.
No mic, no camera. Got Roku. It's 43 inches.
It was all incremental. It ain't portable without a truck.
But it does anything, and everything, I want. It should be good for another 10 years.
i do have a clunky laptop to carry around when i need/want to.
It's portable. And expendable. And redundant.
But when I get home, everything on "there" gets transferred to "here".
YMMV, of course.
But 1 camera plus 2 lens = 2 much money to lose at it is.
I couldn't allow myself a newish Mac laptop to that swag.
