These are old abandon houses in north central Kansas. Most were built in the latter half of the 19th century. The area is known for buildings, sheds and fence posts made of limestone; the most abundant material available on the prairie as trees are scarce. All are shown in black and white, converted from color. I feel black and white conveys the mood I was looking to capture. Comments welcome.
Nice B&W renderings. The architecture sure contrasts with the windmills in the first shot! Please stay well and keep on sharing.

Excellent shots, #2 is very cool. I like the moon in the sky, a lot!

They certainly look very sturdy. Seems like someone could restore them and have a strong home.

Very nice, good choice for black as white. Great sky in #3.

Great images!!!!!
Can you imagine trying to heat one of those houses? Sure would keep you busy gathering Buffalo chips.
Very nice set. I like the b&w.

Thank you. Yep, a hard life back in the day.
The third sot really evokes the sense of abandonment. I agree about the moon in the 2nd. Both are well composed. I also think B&W is the most appropriate for these kind of photos. In the first, i like the juxtaposition of the wind generators and the windmill above the house, but I want to see the composition shifted some to make them more distinct - give each (house, windmill, wind generator) a little more of their own space. I don't think a different angle on the house to achieve this would have worked as well. C'est la vie - you can only work with what you're given.

Thank you. Yep, that would keep one busy for sure. A hard life back then. Could be why the were abandoned.

Thank you for your comments. I agree with you about the composition in the first image but I did not want to give up the leading lines of the path to the house.
Very nice! Yes, B&W was a good choice. That first house must have been quite something in its day.
