One beautiful car!! The period 1955 - 1970 was, in my opinion, the pinnacle of the American automobile when it came to styling. It was easy to distinguish a Chevy from a Ford, a Dodge, or any other make from a block away. No one shied away from using chrome, especially on the more expensive models. And, those big V8s, which in those days were visible under the hood, snarled. Oh, did I mention that it is a beautiful car?

The '61 Impala is a true classic from a design perspective. Can't quite put my finger on it but it is just plan beautiful. It has aged very well, really improving over time IMO. Great car, great photos, LR.

When I was in High school a guy 1 class ahead of me got a 61 409 2dr all black ...everyone in school was jealous ....one day he wrapped it around a tree and was killed ..,
