Has anyone used these new cameras ..Canon is overtaking Sony as #1 because of these new mirrorless.

I have the R5 and it is simply amazing. I think Sony and Canon and others will bounce back and forth as new models come out. I went canon because I have some solid L lenses which I can still use. Moved from a 5DIII to R5. In addition to the Full frame mirrorless comes the RF line of lenses which are better than the L series. In poker parlance it seems like Canon is "all in" with mirrorless albeit taking their damn time about doing it. The R was the teaser and I suspected the next model to be a significant advancement, and it is.

The EOS R5 will change how we think about mirrorless, how we think about photography, how we think about life.

I'm interested in how it will change my life.

If your photography brings pleasure to your life, then get ready for a pleasure boost! Better quality, more keepers, and up to 8 stops of image stabilization. Makes me happy not to have to drag my tripod out.

I never see myself there anyway.

I noticed that there is a new firmware update for the R6 that came out today.

I have had my R5 for just over a month. It is performing up to my expectations so far. Expensive, but glad I got it. Still learning.

Yes, maybe, but will it track birds? Are the controls reverted back to what Canon shooters are accustomed to?

What's the risk? If it performs, you're happy. If it doesn't perform you return it.

True, with 30 day return there’s no real risk. When the R6 was working I really liked it. I bought it for the improved focus when using fast primes like the 50 and 85 1.2. The focus is definitely superior to my 5D3 and 4. Most of the reviews I’ve read don’t mention the issues I’ve had with the 2 bodies I’ve owned. I can only assume they are not shooting non-stop like I do with wedding photography. Hopefully the R5 will perform like I need it to.

There are no limits to what you can accomplish when you own a mirrorless camera.

I have the 5D4, R, and now the R5. They are all excellent cameras. The R5 is the best of the bunch based on focusing speed and tracking, exposure control and dynamic range. I am quite happy I took the plunge. I have the RF 24-240, which has exceeded my expectations, as well as the RF 35mm which is also excellent. I also use all my previous EF lenses with the adapter. Go for it, you will be glad you did.
