Has anyone used these new cameras ..Canon is overtaking Sony as #1 because of these new mirrorless.
The EOS R5 will change how we think about mirrorless, how we think about photography, how we think about life.
Have one on order....intrigued with the IBIS and the new focusing system..the new F/11 long lens.
I have purchased 2 R6 bodies and have been extremely disappointed. The first camera had to be sent back to Adorama for several problems with unstable settings. After a few hundred exposures on a wedding shoot the WB would constantly change to Auto. The ISO would change to auto and the focus spot would get lost in a far corner. At one point when the screen went white and I realized the shutter speed had changed itself to 30 seconds! I had an email correspondence with Canon with no answers to the problem. Adorama allowed me to return the camera. I assumed this was just a bad-apple camera and purchased another one. Again, after a couple hundred exposures the camera began switching from manual ISO to auto without any user interference. I was able to shoot a video of the problem occurring with my cell phone and sent it to Canon customer service. They could see the issue and asked me to change a setting but it was clearly not relevant to the problem. I’m now getting ready to send this one back and give up on the R6. I suspect this issue is related to the well documented problems with video overheating. I’m still debating whether I want to risk moving up to the R5. An additional $1300?
You are not prone to hyperbole, the Canon guy with common sense, but you might be right.
When I decided to try mirrorless I went Olympus. Over the years I have bought 2 more bodies, the latter has been the EM-1. I do not regret going Olympus. Their cameras and lenses, also the Panasonic lenses have done a great job to my entire satisfaction.
I am not looking back.

I was one of the very 1st people to test this camera when it became available at Cannon CPS
I currently own a Canon 1DX, a Canon 5D Mk IV, a Canon 5D Mk III, a Canon 5DS-R and I found that the new EOS R5 camera to offer an awful lot of features which are heads above all of these 4 cameras I just listed....
Answer results of my personal evaluation of this camera, I made a decision to buy it, the camera was shipped to me yesterday and I will be receiving it on Saturday the 31st
Once I have had my new camera for a while, I will be making some critical decisions as to which of the 1st 3 cameras I just might sell
Can't wait to get it

Thanks for the info---Maybe should wait for the bugs to ironed out? The specs seem out of this world.
I received a 5 a month ago. Enjoying every minute😊👏👍
I purchased the R, RF 24-105 f/4, and EF - RF adapter combo as a first foray into mirrorless. Though the R didn't feel or operate at the level of my 5D IV or 5D III, I gradually became hooked on mirrorless advantages. As a result, I pre-ordered the R5 on July 9. Eleven weeks later, it arrived. During the wait, I sold my 5D III and EF 16-35 f/2.8, and purchased the RF 15-35 f/2.8. Now with a month or so of use, I am elated with the switch. I love the R5--everything my 5D IV offers plus much more.
For info, I shoot landscapes and nature, rarely do any video.

It's already changed how I think about life. Completely!

I have purchased 2 R6 bodies and have been extreme... (

What's the risk? If it performs, you're happy. If it doesn't perform you return it.
Rough numbers here...
Canon has about 40%+ of the global market share
Sony has about 20%
Nikon has around 17%
Pan Fuji have about 5%
Olympus has about 3%.
Only Canon and Sony have deep R&D now...
So if you want to start anew...go with Canon or Sony.

While I haven’t used the R Canons I have noticed that the images from my Sonys have been gradually degrading as Canon nibbles away at Sony’s lead. I really fear for what my images will look like if Canon actually displaces Sony as #1.

I have the Canon R5, R, RF 100-500, RF 800, RF 24-240. All great cameras and lenses. R5 is an excellent and easy to use camera. More photo keepers when using the eye tracking device for birds, bees, other insects, animals, fish and people. 12 to 20 FPS. 500,000 shutter activations make this a long-lasting camera. Built in 5 axis stabilization plus the lens stabilization makes for hand holding photography (no tripod) easy. Too many pro features to go into. Worth every penny for the cost of this unique camera.
