This is a sample of the images i captured early one morning. I was in the northern Galilee and in the distance is Lake Tiberias. Of course in daylight the lake is viewable from where I was located but it is far in the distance. There was very little post processing done on this image; cropping and colour correction. I do not use anything but the Mac photo program. I'm not a purist; I just don't want a complicated program .

Both just awesome. You created a whole different scene and feeling. Who says a scene just has to be what's already there? You made something that is very moving, which started in your mind. That is art - making beauty from an idea.

ImageCreator, I like both your images. I've been reading all the comments on your second image, and I decided to take a wack at fixing some of the "problems" that have been mentioned. Using Affinity Photo, I made 3 Hue, Saturation, Luminosity (HSL) layer masks, adjusting out some of the blue in the water, lightening the sky a bit, taking out the blue in the lighthouse light. Also made a B&W mask to remove a bit of blue around the lightning. Not sure why affinity was balking at this with HSL masks, but rather than fight it, I just made a B&W mask just for the lightning. I also straightened out the light house/horizon a tad.

First, I'll tell you this is a fantastic image to edit. Your sky selection is super. I'm sure others could do even better than I did, but your image looks fantastic after a couple of pretty minor touch ups, mostly addressing some of the constructive comments made about your edit. After my edits, the image looks pretty darn realistic to me, but I'm no artist, just know what I like, and I really like your image. If you want, I can post it, or send you a private message with my changes.

Anyway, definitely spend some time with this image in PS, it's a keeper, possibly a wall hanger.

Oh geez. Didn't your mama ever tell you if don't have something nice to say keep your mouth shut, Meadwilliam?

With all due respect, I'm not a fan either but I hope I can say so in a nicer way. Here's why: The color of the water would be gray with a sky like that. Also, there's a strong black shadow on the back side of the lighthouse indicating it was shot on a bright sunny day. For me, it's fine to replace a sky or whatever you like but the goal should be to make it look real. Both the original and the fake sky image are over-processed. There are haloes around the buildings and the colors are oversaturated.

Sometimes you need to augment what your camera to do. Sometimes you need to augment to replicate what your memories are of a situation. The attached photos are from the 1st hour of my first game drive in Africa. The camera was a Canon 60d.
The finished photo is a composite of the first 2 out of camera photos. These 2 photos were taken about 3 minuets and 1/4 mile apart both shooting W/NW looking into the setting sun. Sky replacement done the hard way using layer techniques circa 2012. Then some dodging and burning to increase the contrast between the leopard and the tree trunk. Plus some color enhancements.
Fake? Well I didn't know how to get the leopard and the sky to both be in proper exposure in a single shot.
I like the end product and my guests think its pretty good. What else matters?

A wonderful picture of the leopard, I think you did a wonderful job highlighting it. It made a picture where there wasn't one. Bu I think I would have left the sky (albeit a VERY nice one) where it was, I thought it attempted to rob the leopard of the attention rightfully belonging to it!

I do post processing on my photos but only to get them to look as I experienced the subject. I do not care what others do with their images but I do want transparency. Also, I don't always like what some photographers produce as their final image. Digital photography has advanced so much that you can create a totally fabricated image without even had held a camera. I am attaching an image of an early morning sky captured in March 2020 in the northern Galilee.

Great Sky!!
