Memory card: delete images or format card

We shoot a lot of sport,down load all to "My Documents".Leave on card for a day or so.Delete from card.Then get rid of what we don't want and save to external HD

On the Mark IV low level formatting is only available on the SDHC slot.

The thing to remember is that writing on these cards is semi-destructive in that only so many writes can be performed.

It is true about the limited R/W cycles however (1) that number is high something like 100,000 typ and (2) the memory manager should be managing the memory so that all sectors see equal use. It’s really not a problem for a photographer’s SD card it’s more of a concern for memory use where there is a lot of read write activity.
