Love the winter ride Cindy. It's always fun trying to convince your horse it's OK to break the ice on the creek. You know it's 6", he knows it's 6'. Why do the bears scrape all the bark off the trees, kills them doesn't it.

As far as introducing animals, the NPS introduced beaver into NE Ohio which was a pretty good thing but if you think that bear did some damage, beaver knock the whole tree down and eat the bark like corn on the cob. If you're running low on deer, we'd be glad to ship you some of ours but don't return the favor with wolves.

As far as beavers; constructive or destructive, just depends on who's telling the story. The NPS have maintenance people who view them just like you and others who think it's just a wonderful natural story. I've seen them take down trees over a foot in diameter well away from any water so it has nothing to do with building anything and the energy required to take it down is way more than they could get eating the bark. Just another sign God's got a sense of humor.

Good morning Blair! Glad you enjoyed the series and I agree....we do live in a beautiful spot. We both carry bear spray with us all the time and sometimes the pistols as well. Only had to pull them once....hopefully never again!
