I'm not sure of the inclusion of Montana's Fish, Wildlife & Parks as the agency deciding to reestablish wolves. I believe the decision was made by the Federal Wildlife Service and National Park Service. Certainly Montana, Wyoming and Idaho wildlife management agencies have tried/ are trying to manage the aftermath. And some areas, inside and outside Yellowstone, have seen 90 percent reduction in elk population.
I didn't say MT FWP I stated just FWP ....big difference and the local MT fish wildlife and parks guys I know did not want the relocation of the wolves in my region. Like I stated....when you talk to the local people that see and feel the difference since the reintroduction....you learn a lot more than listening to the media. The decline in the deer, elk and moose populations are dramatic especially in Glacier and Yellowstone parks.....so so sad!
I am a horn hunter....go out specifically to gather and sell deer, elk and moose horns...been doing it for years. But it's extremely hard now to find them because the critters are just not here anymore. This shot was our 2017/2018 season of elk horns and that was an extremely hard year to find this many, we used to gather triple that amount of elk horns and multiple moose paddles.....no moose paddles in the past 2 years to be found anywhere!
But it is what it is now and we do our part to harvest as many as we can.
