What's sad about wolf and bear tracks? The fact they are there means the elk and deer are there too.

Ummm...no that's not true at all....when you see wolf tracks....you do not see deer or elk tracks anywhere....believe me ..... I spend a large amount of my free time in the woods and do a lot of hunting and horn hunting in the springtime as well......the decline in the deer, moose and elk populations in my region is astronomical and so so very sad.

If you don't live in the area's where the wolves are....then all you know is what the media likes to tell you but please talk to the people that live in the area's where they are....you will get a way different story.

I'm not sure of the inclusion of Montana's Fish, Wildlife & Parks as the agency deciding to reestablish wolves. I believe the decision was made by the Federal Wildlife Service and National Park Service. Certainly Montana, Wyoming and Idaho wildlife management agencies have tried/ are trying to manage the aftermath. And some areas, inside and outside Yellowstone, have seen 90 percent reduction in elk population.

Yes that nasty word...."Snow"....it has arrived! So might as well get out and enjoy it so to speak. We took the horses out for a few rides this past week and got all the weather Mother Nature throws our way....rain, snow, wind and sunshine...and enjoyed every minute of it!

Went and checked out a hunting area that we haven't been to in about 3 yrs......no deer or elk to be found but lot's of wolf and bear tracks...so sad!

I like these images from the back of a horse.

I didn't say MT FWP I stated just FWP ....big difference and the local MT fish wildlife and parks guys I know did not want the relocation of the wolves in my region. Like I stated....when you talk to the local people that see and feel the difference since the reintroduction....you learn a lot more than listening to the media. The decline in the deer, elk and moose populations are dramatic especially in Glacier and Yellowstone parks.....so so sad!

I am a horn hunter....go out specifically to gather and sell deer, elk and moose horns...been doing it for years. But it's extremely hard now to find them because the critters are just not here anymore. This shot was our 2017/2018 season of elk horns and that was an extremely hard year to find this many, we used to gather triple that amount of elk horns and multiple moose paddles.....no moose paddles in the past 2 years to be found anywhere!

But it is what it is now and we do our part to harvest as many as we can.

Love the winter ride Cindy. It's always fun trying to convince your horse it's OK to break the ice on the creek. You know it's 6", he knows it's 6'. Why do the bears scrape all the bark off the trees, kills them doesn't it.

As far as introducing animals, the NPS introduced beaver into NE Ohio which was a pretty good thing but if you think that bear did some damage, beaver knock the whole tree down and eat the bark like corn on the cob. If you're running low on deer, we'd be glad to ship you some of ours but don't return the favor with wolves.

Thanks Reuss and your right...it's always an adventure trying to get them to cross a little crick with a small layer of ice on it...why they think they need to jump a 1 to 2 ft little crick with a small amount of water just baffles me but yet they will swim across a river or lake with no problem!! Hmmm.....wish I could ask them

The bears want the sap and the bugs that are just under the bark and yes it does kill the tree.

And we have been dealing with beavers here the past few years....they decided to build a damn on the creek that runs thru our horse pasture....they are very destructive critters!! Here is a shot of their hut and the hubby digging out the damn for the uptenth time ....we tear it up and they just rebuild it!
