I was working on challenge with the theme "Seating". I decided to take this one a little further and applied a Topaz Studio filter. Although the wall was a solid color I like the wallpaper effect it created.

Gosh Keni, I didn't know you worked in oils. I find it enjoyable in all respects. The memory I take away from this is of my Grandmother's formal Parlor. Dark wood and a white crocheted table cloth she made as a young lady and a silence so deep you were afraid to talk.

Thank you sir! I showed this to my family and they immediately mentioned our Grandmother. I originally shot it without the dishes but it felt empty. I actually made a real cup of coffee for the cup. I try very hard to tell a story.

Wonderful image, Keni! Reminiscent of the good work of painters of the past.

The placement of the glass in relation to the chair in the foreground detracts a little, but no biggie...

Well done!

Wonderful mood! Love the warm light through the lace and the plump apples piled high. I think removing the middle chair that is barely there already would be a good thing too

EDIT - I take it back. What I thought was a weird part of the middle chair is actually the arm of the furthest chair. Here is with arms removed, and a little touch-up on nearest chair top. What do you think?

A very attractive result Keni, I especially like the light. I’d probably remove the tumbler that looks to be sitting on the chair back, and I like Linda’s edit. Everything else is spot-on.

Thanksgiving dinner alone! A stark image with a message.
Yes, I agree, the wallpaper must be textured because the curtain and table cloth are... an overall theme.

For me it’s well done. I personally would not change the chair’s arm. For me makes it a more relaxing scene. I could picture the sitter leaning back with his/her elbows resting on the chair arm enjoying that cup of coffee. Perhaps add a slice of pie on that dish.

I am generally not a fan of this kind of photo editing because I prefer things to be more natural-looking, but in this case I believe you have excelled. Congratulations.

Thank you! I am not particularly happy with how that glass came out either. Thankfully with digital I can still play with it.

Thank you Linda. It does give it a cleaner look but I deliberately moved the chair with the arms into that position, pushed back and turned to the side, as a symbol for the head of the table and as if someone had just pushed away from the table. It looked better before I applied the filter. The filter abstracted the arms a little too much but I still want them there. Maybe I could mask them so that don't get as abstracted in Topaz.

Thank you so much. The tumbler is actually a small jar of homemade jam that I added at the last minute. I could have left it out or moved it. It does appear to be a little awkward where it is.
