I had the opportunity to go to a dear friend’s interment at Arlington Cemetery. It was a sight to behold. The Honor Guard took such care and performed their duties with such precision and respect for my friend. I wish all Veterans received such respect while they are still living.

I've had the opportunity to be on funneral detail several times in my Army career. It is a great Honor and a privilege to be able to present the flag to a fallen brother in arms family. My first time I made the mistake of looking directly into the widows eyes while said "The Speech" and when she started crying I almost lost my military bearing, it was the hardest thing to keep from crying myself, I know a few tears got away from me and I'm not ashamed to say it. I learned quick to concentrate on a spot on the forehead after that. Beautiful photos well captured. Thank you for being there for your friend. God Speed

Yes. And any very can have this kind of service. Just contact one of your local very clubs. VFW, American legion, etc. And ask. All you needed is proof of service, DD214.

If pre arrangements are made with a final home, they can arrange it for you. I have prepaid arrangements with one of it local homes and their questionnaire asks if you are veteran and want a very ceremony. They will handle everything for you.

Thank you everyone. I was his secretary in the early 80’s and, even though Col Brittingham left the area, he, his family and I remained close. I will miss him dearly but this ceremony was, not only something to behold, it was a fitting tribute to send him home.

Cmbtvet. Thank you for your service. As the wife of an Air Force military member and having worked as a civilian at various AF bases for over 32 years, I understand the sacrifices you and your family made. Thank you is a small, but sincere acknowledgment of your service.

Thank you for sharing this. Many folks never get to see how special this ceremony actually is. And it is a proud and wonderful thing to behold.

Very well done! Thank you for your service and for being with your friend. I plan to be buried at the Fort Worth Military Cemetery when the time comes.
