In a field of freshly hewn hay? Those are some mighty pampered pronghorns you've got up there in Montanistan.
Down here in Ootah, I'd need a 1000mm lens or longer to get as good shot. And when I do see them, there sure isn't any reason to whistle. They know I'm around a lot sooner than I know they're around, and in those instances where they don't bolt, there's always a buck --like the one in your last shot-- who's none too shy about checking me out.
Good stuff, quix.
Thanks a lot! Here when they are in wilder land, just as you describe, long lens needed, and even then, they may spook. In the hayfields and on the farms, as with those today, pretty calm. By all reports, going back in time, they are also very curious. There are stories about them investigating a silk bandanna on a stick or a pinwheel - be interesting to try with a camera. Never hunted Pronghorn so not certain the "lures" are legal these days, or for that matter if the old tales are true!
