Thanks for the nice words! As for that picture, it started out this way (see first photo). In Lightroom room I applied a lot of alterations:
Vertical: -70
Horizontal: -7
Rotate: -0.9
Scale: max left (50)
and cropped left and right to retain maximum vertical image.

And since you asked about that one, this is what #4925 looked like at first (see second photo). It was fixed this way:
Vertical: -75
Horizontal: +54
Rotate: -6.8
Scale: 65 (almost all the way left)
and crop to remove the distorted right edge and cupola. (Note the white triangle in the upper left corner--there was no image there to be seen with the vertical correction.)

You will note the use of the LR "Scale" slider. I have found that when major vertical corrections are needed, the original image space is not large enough to contain all the image data and it gets truncated. I use "Scale" to enlarge the image space enough to retain all the data, and then crop out the extra white space around it. Extreme vertical fixes also make the image appear too skinny, so I sometimes use a little negative "Aspect" (slider to left) to fatten it out. Didn't think it necessary this time. These are tricks I have recently learned to create images that represent what I saw (or think I did).

Thank you for the instruction regarding how to attack this issue in post-processing. I haven't learned PP yet, but I will for sure.

David,
Outstanding work as always! You did magic with the shot you "struggled" with! 👍👍👍

Thanks for the memories - I spent 29 weeks in Prague (Praha) running a telecom job in 1997. Really enjoyed the Czech Republic!
Cheers,
Don

Catching up on responses.

Thanks, nimbushopper. I’m happy you liked them.

Thank you phlash46. Always pleased someone enjoyed them.

Hi, angler! Thank you very much. I enjoyed your church in England, too.

crafterwantabe, thanks so much. I’m happy you liked them.

sscnxy, I hope my writeup was helpful. I started using Lightroom several years ago and I’m still learning how to do some things with it. There is yet much to learn, though.

AzPicLady, I’m pleased that you liked it.

blacks2, Thanks for the 4 thumbs up. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

yssirk123, I’m always pleased when someone enjoys my photos! Thank you.

Don in Thailand, thank you for you nice compliment. I tried several different ways to “fix” that photo—none were as well as I’d wanted, but that was the better one. I’ve been to the Czech Republic twice, but only once to Prague. The 2010 cruise of European rivers went to České Budějovice and České Krumlov (I didn’t do a church there) and the 2015 concert tour of my church choir did Prague and České Krumlov.

Jay, we meet again! Thanks for coming.

raymondh, Thanks for the nice compliment. Glad you liked it.

I realize that this is not as personal as individual thank you responses, but it takes up less space in the Hog.

Nice job. Those old church interiors were so ornate. Nothing built today is anything like that.

Thank you very much. You want ornate? The Pilgramage Church of Die Wies south of Munich, Germany is it.

Did you have an opportunity to visit the brewery where the original Budweiser is brewed? The German name was Tschechisch Budweiser and the beer (pivo) was called Budweiser. Adolphus Busch appropriated the name because it sounded typically German.

Thanks, Earnest! Always glad someone likes my photos.

Chout, I don't drink beer so usually don't visit breweries. I did go through the Heineken brewery in Amsterdam, though.

Well-shot images of an interesting place, David. I have driven a bit all over the former Czechoslovakia to just about the border with Ukraine, have visited the nearby Brno but have not visited that south-western corner of the now Czech republic. I was aware that with Ceske Budejovice and close-by Cesky Krumlov there are some interesting places waiting to be explored. Thanks for these pictures, they give me some ideas on where to plan a future trip!
