St Thomas church Eccleston St Helens England....
......... An unusual red Brick Church
This church is well known to the people of St.Helens as it is made from substantial red brick and sits in a prominent position just outside of the Town Centre. There is some good stained glass within and the altar is an unusually carved wooden modern example. The Church was originally founded in 1839 and the building suffered badly from a fire in 1960. The Re-Build of the roof and some of the interior did a good job and you would not be able to tell that the fire had occurred. There are also some interesting wall plaques to see and the interior space looks a lot bigger on the inside.
Both Rosemarie and nyself have some family history with this church,my Great Granddfather and Great grandmother where married in this church and their Son my Granddfather and Grandmother where also married here. Mrs A's parents where also married in this church as well and Mrs A was chistened there as well.Guess what, the church is also our next door neighbour as well.Something i did'nt know until i started to do my families history.
The red brick gives it a warm glow. Very nice.

Very nice shots Jim, nice contrast between the warm colors of the church and the dark "framing" of the trees!
