Dürnstein, Austria in 2010 – Part 3a, Dürnstein Abbey Exteriors
Dürnstein is a small town on the Danube river in the Krems-Land district, in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It is one of the most-visited tourist destinations in the Wachau region and also a well-known wine growing area. The town gained its name from the medieval Dürnstein castle, which overlooked it. I am walking challenged, so did not visit the castle.
There is a lot to see at Dürnstein. This set is devoted to Dürnstein Abbey exterior view; Part 3b is of the interior. Part 1 was of scenes along the Danube River, and Part 2 covered scenes in the town.

Wonderful, detailed tour, David!
Thanks, Mike and NMGal! When I began looking at Dürnstein I quickly concluded that I'd need at least 2 sets, but they kept multiplying.
Nice again, David--enjoyed.
Delightful place. We didn’t feel up to the hike to the castle either. Abbey was not terribly crowded and quiet. Town is considerably less touristy than some.
Thanks for the reminder.
RoswellAllen, I totally agree -- it is a nice, quiet town. That walk through the tunnel down to the river is interesting (takes off right next to the souvenir shop). You're welcome, of course.
crafter, thanks so much for your nice comment.
blacks2, I also appreciate your compliment, and the 4 thumbs.

Thanks very much! It is nice to know my work to prepare these photos for presentation here is appreciated. (I've been reworking all my editing of the photos of this tour to take advantage of what I'm now able to do in Lightroom. And since I post from Flickr, I also have to update all the images I changed on that platform first.)
We loved seeing this beautiful church on our Danube River cruise. Good shots David.

Thank you very much. My cruise was with Avalon Waterways (now part of Globus).
