Welcome to UHH HGB, glad you joined us. I also started out in film. My kitchen at night was my darkroom. Liked those days but also enjoy the digital age quite well.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum. Gotta run, it is MY pill time!
Don
Thank you for the welcome all.
Robert1, I'll look up the cameras mentioned-- for my L610 is after all a point and shoot and has limited use.
My biggest problem is remembering all the auto settings because I trust the camera's version of sport, portrait, etc. and I forget them.

So, for your info. The Fujifilm are APS-C size mirrorless cameras, compact, and have great lenses to chose from. A couple of favorites are XT-3 or XT-4.
Nikon only choice is their Full Frame Df a great camera that brand new is over-price, but it's usually available as refurbished by the major online camera stores like Adorama or B & H. Also you can get it used at great prices. I was able to get mine as a Nikon refurbished item from Adorama at almost $1700, while at the Nikon store, it's always available around $2300. Brand new is around $2750.
Basically, those are the only choices for a film like digital camera.
I've decided to test out the Coolpix L610 by taking a shot of a bird across our small lake. I just wanted to see what the camera was capable of. The bird was about 300-400 ft away.
I dropped the ISO down to 200, put the telephoto setting on maximum before the digital feature kicks in. The setting was on self timer and an inexpensive tripod was used for solidity. The Landscape setting was chosen with this little point and shoot Nikon. Oh yes I also dropped the opening down by one stop.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
Thanks for the welcome.
I'm kind of naive. Where do I post my photos?
