Cade's cove for sure. Laurel Falls - pictured below. Clingman's dome. And as you drive through the park you'll see several photo opportunities.

Wheels thru time. When you go to clingsmans dome drop down the other side of the mt. into maggie valley n. carolina. On the way you will see elk and bison.

The loop around Cade's cove is closed until Feb.

Pack your patience. If you haven't experienced crowds, traffic jams, and impatient, inconsiderate people, you'll definitely need to "take a chill pill."

I am not sure that is true. I live here close to Cades Cove and am actually heading up there today.

I cannot find any thing on the Park's website or any where else that mentions a closure of the Loop Road.

The Loop road is closed on certain days to allow walking and bike riding early in the day but other wise the loop road is open year around.

However, I think the mill at the visitor's center may be closed.

Check the Park website before you leave in the morning. I was there in October 2019 and two mornings during the week, the road to Clingman’s Dome was closed at sunrise because of ice on the highway.

Take a look at the Roaring Fork Motor Trail. The times I have been there it has not been busy.

We are leaving tomorrow to go down for 5 days so I checked road closures out of interest. The Loop Road was closed due fallen trees but seems to be open now. It is closed to auto traffic on Wednesday’s thru Sept. 30 - bicycles only. Your comments are most interesting since we are headed there.

If you want to see wildlife (bears) go to Cades Cove either early morning or late afternoon for best chances. Don’t just drive in circles. There are a couple of gravel roads that cut the circle. Drive down them and just park and wait for something to walk out of the woods. Patience is the key. Be respectful and pull off the road so others can pass and keep a safe distance from the wildlife.

The campgrounds near Bryson City has a nice hike in 2 different loops around a creek with 3 different waterfalls. There are many photos along that creek bed. Also the Blue Ridge Pkwy and Water Rock Knob or a few of the other overlooks lower than Water Rock are also nice depending on the weather. There are also a few nice pull overs along the creek bed near the South Entrance of the park near Cherokee. We saw many elk near the South Entrance.

Sometimes when I’m up in the mountains or any anywhere I’m not to familiar with I just wonder back roads. You find some very interesting sights just drifting around the countryside.
