I worked with a guy who was a member of the 'Flat Earth Society'.
I showed him a picture of earth taken from the Space Station.
He said it was doctored!

Just wait a second – so what you're telling me is that my chance of surviving all this is directly linked to the common sense of others? You’re kidding, right?

Well, stay hiding in the house and the rest of us will have more room outside.
Another option is to join a daily "protest" with the communists. They have an exemption.
Dr Fauci was interviewed recently and refused to say that it was bad to protest with Covid.

Just wish people would get over it already. Unfortunately we'll have to put up with this until after the election when it will disappear just as fast as it appeared.

Death toll is now way over 160 thousand. Probably it will hit 200,000 or more. Viet Nam, in all the years of war for us, we hit 57,000 plus. How many years did that take? The COVID virus, not a flu, has taken only several months. Hard to believe people still argue about masks, distancing, etc.
But, why worry, as Alfred E Neuman used to say (Mad Magazine), it’s just a hoax. Yeah, that’s right, just a hoax.
How many families are affected by those deaths? What is the financial cost to those who lost a breadwinner? What about others needing access to hospitals? We’re losing medical personnel at a horrific rate. What about Teachers, guidance counselors, Principles, bus drivers, etc. So many don’t seem to care if old people die from it. Children come home from school and “donate” it to parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, friends and acquaintances. College football, Pro Football, baseball, basketball, etc. teet ering on the brink of shutting down. Minor leaguers losing careers and subsistence pay. Restaurants closing. Clearly I could go on and on and on. You fill in the blanks.
I hope a lot of big personal injury firms line-up to sue government officials for their negligence. All those release forms are not worth the paper they are printed on for 2 reasons, at least. 1) You cannot legally waive negligence. 2) These, in most instances are contracts of adhesion, meaning they were forced to sign them. When that doesn’t hold up, revert to #1. These officials know the truth and have access to scientific and medical expertise not everyone has. This is what Tort Law is all about. It is designed to discourage those who would otherwise be reckless, negligent and Intentional in putting others at risk when these damages were reasonably foreseeable. The use of these forms is, in and of itself, evidence that the injuries were foreseeable.
But, I digress. After all, the more than triple Viet Nam deaths, by this virus are simply a hoax. Don’t let’em fool you. This will all simply disappear in a few days. Wait until the warm weather is here. Yep, that will end this little annoying thing. Just a hoax, anyway, y’heah?
Death toll is now way over 160 thousand. Probably ... (show quote)

So tired of utterly false equivalences. The following fallacy being one of my peeves.

"Death toll is now way over 160 thousand. Probably it will hit 200,000 or more. Viet Nam, in all the years of war for us, we hit 57,000 plus. How many years did that take?"

The average age of people dying is well over 70, meaning, on average, a Covid life lost is withing a few years of death, past child bearing age, and not fully or even partly employed. No future children, and grandchildren, etc are lost. On the flip side, Vietnam lives were lost at age 22, losing 50+ years each, 30+ years of productive work, children, grandchildren and on and on.

All the lives matter, including those in my community who have been forced into unemployment and dependency when Covid offers effectively zero threat to them or their kids. It is, to me, 'cutting off the nose despite the face' to punish 5 year old kids when they neither die from nor spread the virus. Many elderly or ill patients will be refused open heart surgery because of the odds of death in the surgery, but a healthy 5 year old can gain 70 years of healthy life in the same surgery. Covid policy is the equivalent of denying the child the surgery because OTHERS can't tolerate it. Different risks require different mitigations.

The virus will not disappear just because we have an election, but it may result in our seeing a better example.

We could keep it at bay by
1. clean hands
2. distance
3. mask
4. avoid crowds
but probably too many of you won't do that.

A few may "hide" in their houses.

Most of us will live nearly normal lives by doing 1-4 above.
Some of you will live completely normal lives, and some of you will spread it to others and keep it going.

Life is near normal in my county.

The schools are still teaching mostly via computer because too many kids are being infected and the infection is spreading to too many staff via the kids.

The virus won't disappear. The reaction will.
Masks will go away.
Crowds will come back.
None of the scare tactics will remain.

Schools have already announced return after November.
This will be treated like any other cold or bad flu.
If it wasn't for the unnecessary testing going on the amount of "cases" would be nill.

Many are throwing away a portion of their lives because they are sheepish and believe everything the propaganda shows tell them.

Just the facts.

After Jan 20, 2021, the President will allow experts to tell us what they see without his poo-pooing it.
The President will wear masks, and will encourage us to follow his example.
We will be told that this is both more contagious and more deadly than the common flu.
We will finally have enough tests to isolate many more of the infectious people.

Hopefully, fewer people will throw away what would have been the remainder of their lives, and fewer will be crippled by ways that will be known only over time {right now we already know of some college athletes who have developed heart problems after what had been thought to be cases of minor Covid infection}.

Note: without chest xrays, fewer people would know of problems - until they are dying.
Testing does not cause problems - it allows us to isolate and treat these people
{why do you think the White House goes through so many tests - testing everyone who encounters the President}.

Do you really believe a virus will disappear after an election. Wake up. This will be with us for years. Say it any way you want. Some of you truly don’t mind older folks being infected and dieing. All lives matter here.

Common sense dictates that your chance of surviving the Coronavirus is linked directly to your ability to stay away from those others.

As of Monday, the governing body of Texas high school athletics had mined data showing that exactly 4 Covid cases in the state's over 20 000+ actively practicing football athletes could be traced to exposure in the school or program, and only about 50 cases at all. It turns out, at least so far, that being outside in the heat even if you are side by side is FAR less an avenue of transmission than packing in the whole family with recirculating A/C air, shopping at recirculated air Walmart, or rioting at night.

Don't get yourself worked up. My community accepts Covid as an actual concern, but predict, reliably, that as soon as the election is over, the US media will stop the panic-porn version of reporting that currently exists. There are two possibilities. 1) Trump is re-elected and the media have a far bigger fish to fry or 2) Biden is elected and every word uttered by him or anyone on his team will be hailed as a massive bit of progress. Either way the panic-porn will fade.
