@DaveH2 yes, working on that. Thanks
I just had this happen in March sent the camera off to Nikon Nikon repair was closed due to covid the camera took three weeks to get back to me then sent the camera repair in LA this time it took 2 months to get the camera back they say the main board failed and replaced it for $389 + $40 for shipping so unless it is under warranty I would think of other options yes the camera works well now but a refurb from Nikon is $689 I fixed the camera and bought an 810 and am so much more pleased withe full frame except for the weight
I had this happen in march the main board failed $389 +$41 to ship later, it works but a refurb from nikon costs 689 and a full frame gives you even sharper images so your choice
@oakvillebob thanks for the info. Full frame would definitely be nice! I'll consider the idea as I'd love to have sharper images.....wouldn't we all, haha.
If you're using a battery grip with your camera be sure to eliminate this as a possible root cause of the issue.
I'd bet on the switch being bad.

Full frame won't necessarily give sharper images. A full frame sensor will usually produce lower digital noise at high ISO settings. The D7500 does not have an anti-aliaising filter in front on the sensor which already results in slightly sharper images than cameras with an AA filter. I have a D7500. I'm getting very sharp images with it - even a touch sharper than my full frame D750.

Hi hogs. I learn so much from you all! Right now I have an issue that I'd like to ask about. My Nikon d7500 will not turn on. I've changed the battery out, nothing. I did note the small indicator light on the back under the "ok" button briefly came on at one point, but only once. Any suggestions? Thank you for the help!
What did Nikon say when you called them ?

I haven't had a chance to call yet, but will let you know what I discover.

Will let you know on it when I find out. Hoping it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to repair given the camera is fairly new.

No grip, but thanks for the thought.

It's still under warranty.
Karen1955, I had a similar problem with my 7d mk ii. The problem was that some how I changed the rear display to off. That said, not being a smart a$$ but, have you checked that yet? Check your view finder...just so make sure. Check for meters and focus points. You may have just darkened the display.
I was sick, thinking I had bricked my brand new work horse. I had just come clean on what I'd spent on it and was NOT looking forward to "that" conversation...
Is the battery level icon displayed in the viewfinder or top LCD screen?
