Submarines?
But I know what you mean.

My point is that Pentax has been 'WR' from top to bottom for some time now,
an actual manufacturer of "APS-C" and "FF" cameras.
Is this post about Pentax? There are many ways you could have made your point, you chose the snarky route.

Honestly, sometimes the snark ping pong is the best part of this site! (No offense meant to those who post photos.)
Snark IS fun and acoarst should steer clear of personal attack. Enjoy!
But seriously fun wise, I did find it ironic ... and irony is often amusing ... ironic that anyone would hype Pentax but then tack on the “So what ?” remark. However wonderful Pentaxes are, the reaction of 95% of the photo scene to news about Pentax “Who ? Pentax ? Still alive ?”
It hit me as really funny when he did that. Acoarst I do realize that a post mortem of a chuckle cannot provide further chuckles ... but I just wanted to be clear about where I’m at, Pentaxwise.
As a long time Nikon user (35+ years), I will just watch this and see what develops.

Pen-who ??????????
Or is it Pen-whom ;-)
Anywho, good to know that weatherizing reaches into even a far flung province of the photo empire. Really a shame it’s not more common in the imperial capital :-(
Isn’t the Pen an Olympus camera? 😜🤪

In this case, he was seemingly snobbishly feigning ignorance of my Pentax cameras.

There's a huge difference between weatherproof and waterproof, though!
A couple of years ago, the assignment of the photo club was to take photos of certain locations along the main street. When it started to rain unexpectedly, my companion and I finished our assignment and went back to the meeting room, only to discover that everybody else was already there: as soon as the first drops fell, they had abandoned the assignment.
We were the only two who finished, without any damage at all to cameras of photos. The only victim of that unexpected rain was her hairdo!

My sincerest sympathies on that. I find that my having no brand-user identity leaves me verrrrry easily amused, a great blessing in these less-than-amusing times.

I did not see “so what?” as being a ‘snarky’ response, any more than I would see that as a problem to any other relative new comer to any other technology, such as the IBIS that Pentax has also been using for a number of years.
I am sorry that others saw it that way.

Well I saw it as somewhat snarky and therefore ironic and therefore funny and therefore I really do thank you for it !

With the release of the E-M10 mkIV, all the Olympus cameras are 20mp and weatherproof. That means even the starter camera for Olympus can be taken out in the rain without any other camera rain gear. With the E-M1X getting the next make over, it has to be a larger sensor with increased AI abilities.
I have, and never will, take my weatherproof Nikon and Sony camera's out into the rain.
WEATHERPROOF IS NOT RAINPROOF. Trust me on this statement.
Weatherproof is what the name implies, it does not mean you can go out into the rain without causing a major failure in your equipment.
I doubt Olympus is going to get any converts...
There's a BIG asterisk next to their name now...
Anyone using Oly now should be in a wait and see mode...
Don't have to of course...
But the big three are chugging along ... gathering more and more steam...
Market wise Pentax is a backwater. Tech wise they are a leader. Puzzling, and sad, but true.
Despite what little presence or impact Pentax currently has on the photo scene, certain Pentax innovations have somehow blipped my radar. I spoze it only confirms what my close friend always says, about my paying remarkable attention to all kindza stuff that doesn’t really matter.
Some radar blips:
IBIS in an SLR
Advanced in-camera panorama
Flip away sensor filter
Handheld hi rez mode
K-mount live view camera
Instant return mirror
Built-in pentaprism
Auto iris screw mount
That much comes readily to mind and yet, like most photo pholks, I wouldn’t know it if Pentax disappeared yesterday.
