With the release of the E-M10 mkIV, all the Olympus cameras are 20mp and weatherproof. That means even the starter camera for Olympus can be taken out in the rain without any other camera rain gear. With the E-M1X getting the next make over, it has to be a larger sensor with increased AI abilities.

Not a lot of things are weatherproof. Unlike a Pro on paid assignment, I can choose to expose my camera to the elements or not. I have always taken the latter course, and as a consequence, have decades worth of fine cameras, well used, but still in excellent condition. Best of luck with your weatherproof!

All current Pentax cameras are Weather Resistant and more than 20mp.
So what?

As a custom car modifier and installer of full electric sunroofs in very expensive automobiles I can atest that NOTHING is waterproof. You work with and drain water. Even a hollow glass ball will condensate if not pumped to a vacuum. All that being said I follow your procedures with the same results.

You ask “So what”.

So an actual popular make, Olympus, is now weatherized from top to bottom ... that is the “what”.

Ironic that you have attached your “So what” response to some info concerning Pentax weatherizing ... or anything at all about Pentax.

OTOH thank you for introducing the name Pentax to legions of Hogsters who have never even heard of Pentax. Folks here do like to feel well informed ;-).

My point is that Pentax has been 'WR' from top to bottom for some time now,
an actual manufacturer of "APS-C" and "FF" cameras.

Pen-who ??????????

Or is it Pen-whom ;-)

Anywho, good to know that weatherizing reaches into even a far flung province of the photo empire. Really a shame it’s not more common in the imperial capital :-(

Honestly, sometimes the snark ping pong is the best part of this site! (No offense meant to those who post photos.)

You may have a long wait.
His snarkiness and {perhaps feigned} ignorance speak to his character more than I ever could.

Waterproof offers greater protection than water resistant.

Nothing is waterproof. Possibly the special underwater housing. It’s a little academic as i find shooting in a force 10 or even 9 with vertical sheets of rain at 60 + mph is hard on creating comprehensible images, maybe the NWS can give insight into the cameras the use.

So what, you ask? Well, my Oly m5 II did just fine with no protection on Maid of the Mist and the Cave of Winds at Niagara Falls.
