Purchased one less than ten days ago...

Now I do not have it anymore. My wife 'black mailed me' and took it from me...

This may help explain why. This is a 55% x 55% crop so the equivalent focal length is 1000 mm.

Full math on request (but take my word for it).

The (cropped) picture is about 2000 x 3000 so the print at 300 DPI could be 10" wide. Not too shabby for a bridge camera IMHO.

Oops, sorry. I mis-read your camera ID (old eyes) and thought it was a RX10.

Of course, the sensor is essentially identical. Your RX100 VII is my next GAS therapy.

Borrow from her grabby little hands??? She has sharp claws!!!

Of course I am kidding, I gave it to her this afternoon when she said she was considering purchasing a camera like mine due to the longer lens and 'better options' for her next vacation in France next year. (Not sure what she meant by 'better options'). Since she leaves for two months to see her Parents in MI, it made sense (to me) that has a news camera to play with so that next year she can be confident with it.

I have to admit, to my shame, that she takes more pictures than I do.

Well, I’m glad she has a real interest in photography, and no doubt she’ll make very good use of that camera. I know I sure like mine, and the more I use it, the more I like it. It’s a likable camera. You might consider getting another one for yourself.

My wife earns far more from photography than I do... and is lusting after an R5 to upgrade her RP and 6D. Live with it. The RX100 seems like a bargain...

That sounds like a win/win to me. Not only do you get the benefit of your wife taking the pictures when on family vacations, but it frees you up when Sony releases the next version.

I can't really imagine what Sony will put in the next one, but judging from the new A7S series, my guess is a better touch-screen menu.

I'm a Pentaxian who married a Canonite 20 years ago... she's a photojournalist, publicist, and event photographer, I'm a journalist who does photography ... and does some studio work, especially food. We stay out of each others' way except when she does a cookbook or does the photography for my magazine's events... if we ever can do a live event again!
