Can't wait to see your trip photos. We traveled to Norway for 10 days last year. Beautiful country.

Thank you for commenting Hereford. Norway is the most beautiful country we have ever visited. I would love to go back and spend about 2-3 weeks driving around there.

Thanks for posting. We did a Viking Ocean Cruise last year that started in Amsterdam and ended in Bergen. I agree that it is the best cruise we've ever done. Only regret is that we didn't opt to spend additional time in Bergen or take the train back to Oslo. Looking forward to your pictures.

Looks like that was an interesting trip Dennis - I like the idea of smaller boats, but even 900+ sounds like a lot to me - I liked our Galapagos cruise with 16 cabins, but that's a different story....

Thank you for commenting Jim. That was our first and only cruise so far, but we are really looking forward to more Viking cruises. We enjoyed our visit to Oslo in 1973 and want to go back. We also want to take the train between Oslo and Bergen again. Bergen is a beautiful city and we enjoyed our full day there, but would like to go back. I'm going to do my next post today, which consists of sunset photos in Bergen; then I will post photos of our day touring Bergen. The cruise you took is on our list of ones we would like to take. We spent the first and last three days of our 1973 summer in Europe in Amsterdam and really enjoyed it. We have a Viking Rhine River cruise (our first river cruise) booked in 2022 that ends in Amsterdam and we have a 2 day post-cruise extension there.

Thank you for commenting Joe. A cruise with 16 cabins is smaller than my wife would be interested in, but in terms of "regular" cruise ships, 930 passengers is on the small side and seemed just right to us. The ship never seemed crowded. We have a Viking Rhine cruise booked with 190 passengers on one of their longships and my wife is wondering if that will be smaller than she would like. Viking is building two new "expedition" ships for 378 passengers that go to more "out of the way places" including the Galapagos; that would work for us.

Norway is such a beautiful place and looking forward to your photo reports, DJ. We were in Bergen and stayed in the old town area. It is just great. Enjoy their strawberries. Got them at the farmer's market. We were told our cat was a Norwegian Forest cat and named him Bergen. At least that and Oslo are the only words we could pronounce. However, our Norwegian neighbor told us we don't really pronounce it properly. Anyway, have a great trip. You'll see some fantastic sights.

Thank you John. Norway is the most beautiful place we've ever visited. We left San Francisco at 2 PM on an all night KLM 747 flight to Amsterdam. The flight was full and the people in front of us were rude, but we made it. We then had a 6 hour layover there until our flight to Bergen; we arrived on the ship around 6 PM the day after we left. KLM managed to misplace my wife's large suitcase, but it arrived on the ship during the night, so we didn't have to spend our one day in Bergen clothes shopping. We slept well and they brought the suitcase to our cabin when we awoke in the morning. We had a great day in Bergen and want to go back to Norway.

You might want to try River Cruises in Europe. The Rhine, Danube, Mosel and Main are all great rivers to cruise. You will visit a lot of countries. We've enjoyed 5 different European River Cruises.

We are! We had a Venice to Barcelona Viking Ocean cruise booked for June of this year and we re-booked it for 2022 in the opposite direction. We added a Viking cruise on the Rhine from Basel to Amsterdam, with 3 nights in Venice and 4 in Lake Como in between the two cruises. Lets hope everything regarding the virus is resolved by then.

I did an Avalon Waterways (now Globus) tour of the Danube, Main, and Rhine in 2010 and one of the Seine in 2015 (also Avalon). Both were excellent.

We weren't sure we would like cruising (especially my wife), but the cruise was the best vacation we've ever had. We're wondering how river cruising is going to be. Photos to follow in a couple of years.

You will love river cruising, because there is always something to see along the shore. Here are my pics of the 2 river cruises I've done:
