now that's funny!

Me, I took the high road to m43, didn't even make it to the Canon-Sony exit!

So Canikon finally decided - if you can't beat 'em - better join 'em as best we can if we can - before it's too late.
They gave it their best shots - but when you start playing catch-up you need to worry about what's just round the corner.

It's more than ironic and a bit comical that 5 years ago Canikon fans were all about... "we have the glass".

That's now ...gone.
Sony has the glass now in mirrorless... a deep and formidable lineup of seriously great IQ glass.

Canikon was being flanked...right before their eyes...in slow motion...and still did not react well enough.

I hope they get their acts together.

Make a judgement ?!?!?!?

No. Clearly we were given the photo to make us laff. There’s too many Hogsters toadally ignore, or mebbe just overlook, the rich entertainment value of UHH :-)

Yes, I know that it's meant to be humorous. I was responding to someone who did a quote reply to my first post. He took my comment about Sony seriously.

I was a Canon and Nikon SLR and DSLR pro user for 40 years (both brands). I moved to Sony mirrorless back in January 2017 and have never looked back. I have owned Sony A6500, A7RII, A7III, A7RIII and now I own both the A7RIV and A9, plus 13 E-mount lenses from Sony, Sigma Art, and Tamron. I did keep one Canon lens out of dozens I have owned over the decades when I moved to Sony. I kept the Canon 17mm f4 Tilt-Shift lens which is such a stunner for architectural work. That is an EF lens so i use that with a MC-11 adapter on my Sonys.

Sony is the leader in FF mirroless and has the longest track record of leading innovation in FF mirrorless. Canon and Nikon's more recent mirrorless entries have gotten better but the latest "revolutionary" Canon R5 and R6 have serious overheating problems as many real-world testers have found out in the past week. For years Sony was berated for its cameras overheating in video, but Sony has solved that now and the tables have turned around.

If you have a bunch of Canon glass that you love then certainly think about Canon's mirrorless offerings. Right now the EOS R and RP might be more reliable than the new R5 and R6. I know some fellow pros who shoot with the EOS R and they are choosing to stick with their EOS R over the R5 and R6 for their pro work, at least until the R5 and R6 overheating issues have a hardware fix. No firmware fix will solve their overheating issue. So you might find some real deals on EOS R and RP cameras now, and that would get you into Canon mirrorless at less cost and with less risk.

I am thrilled with my Sonys for my professional and private work. No camera brand or camera body is perfect, none. But my Sonys have stunning class-leading tech and are durable and reliable. Associated Press, (AP) one the largest Worldwide News Services has just chosen a new direction away from DSLRs, and are moving to all new Sony mirrorless gear for all their staff still photographers and staff videographers , Worldwide. That is hundreds of staff pros all over the world, covering news, sports, lifestyle, wars, everything under all conditions , weather and danger. AP freelancers which number in the thousands worldwide will still use their own gear. But it speaks volumes for mirrorless and for Sony that they are considered top quality and able to handle any job, anywhere, anytime and under all weather and conditions. This is a huge endorsement. And AP doesn't take money to use any particular brand of gear. they choose what they think is the best.

I concur with AP (whom I have shot for at various times in my 45 years as an award-winning newspaper and magazine photojournalist )
I have so much faith in Sony gear and what it can do and how well it is built, that i just pre-ordered the latest Sony A7SIII (announced on Tuesday) to go along with my A7RIV and A9. You would not go wrong if you chose Sony IMHO. Cheers to you.
