But I have a different point of view...

Good for #1...appreciate your vote...and, you're shooting from the Idaho side, done that quite a few times on the way to West Yellowstone, mainly up the Mesa Falls Hwy.!!

I like #2 for the depth the foreground tree gives it. I like my landscapes to have lots of depth.

Beautiful morning scene, Carter and I concur with your landscape preference. I was taken by the wide scene and there is depth to that scene although the tree is more immediate in that regard.

Have you begun your "odyssey" through Canada, Alaska and the N.East U. S.? Looking forward to some travel reports!!

Nice composition. You've got some haloing around the prominent tree in the second image. Dial down saturation and exposure to eliminate it.

A graduated filter from the top to the base of the mtns with a touch of DeHaze will eliminate the atmospheric haze.

Thank you and I appreciate your response. I did Lr DeHaze and I will go back and take another look at this...the haze was terrible the day this was taken. Regarding the haloing I just don't see it...there is sunlight reflecting on the left side of the branches also the slider was hardly moved for either saturation or exposure. I've blown it up over 100% so I am at a loss here...oh well!!

The Photo Expedition has had to be cancelled. Due to Covid Canada has closed its border, as if now through August 21st. Still do not know if I will even be able to make the trip next year as of now.
At least Nikon and Sigma have both told me there will be no request for me to return the donated gear.

I was showing my wife the photo of the Tetons and she said I posted the wrong one!! She likes the second photo better so, bowing to her better artistic judgment, I'll post them both here and see if you agree with her. The winner will probably end up as a 16x20 metal print!

Beautiful images jederick

Not many guys today want to tell their wives that they are mistaken. So I'll tell her for you. #1 is better. The Teton area is all about the mountains. You don't want to cover them up.

Very nice images Jim - I like #1 better, but they're both good.
