Perhaps surprisingly, I really find the color image preferable to the b&w. I agree the starkness of the backlit steam and tracks in the b&w certainly have their appeal, but the color version speaks to me more of the glory of the sunrise and early morning promise. And the steam and tracks are still featured prominently. Nice work on both counts!

The monochrome original edit is dramatic, but this color shot you posted with the gold light and shine has an appeal of its own. Like you say, it is your photo, do what you want - you done good both times, Linda.
I think the darkness ties in well with the chimney belching pollution into the air. The railroad tracks disappearing out of sight makes the viewer think about where all this is going to lead us. Wow, I came up with all that before my evening glass of wine.

Good job, John. I need at least two glasses of Sangria to get me going in the morning 🤠ðŸ¤
Many thanks for your time and interest. Great to hear from you.
I'm more of a "color guy", but I really like the B&W version in the first image. It has "movement" to me. I can almost see the steam cloud rising and I definitely "hear the train a comin'." The color version, though nice, has a completely different feel to me.

Super to know the b&w comes across that way for you.
