Good work. I like the way the tracks stand out and lead your eye into the curve. I wonder how it would look if you lifted the shadows some?

Very nice result, Linda, and I am not a monochrome fa usually. Want to share the unedited version to show your touches?

Excellent. The dense shadows allow the eye to focus on the steam cloud, and secondarily on the tracks. If the shadows were lifted, more detail would be distracting.

Thanks very much, Dan! I'm more about dramatic light and silhouettes, but here's one possibility. I can post the original to PP Forum, if you and others would like to give it a go?

Love the tracks and the backlit steam.
With everything else dark, it accents those two subjects.

Much appreciated, Dana! I was very familiar with this location and had been watching for possible backlighting possibilities. The angle of sun on those tracks were a special treat when I finally took a picture

I think I'll post an unedited in PP Forum. But here's a color shot I shared in 2017. Warning: it has a bit of extra oomph šŸ˜Š

Thanks so much for your interest, Mike.

Thank you Bill! As I mentioned to mcmama, I had driven by here often, and thought about the possibilities of this light, but didn't realize I'd get so lucky with the tracks. Early mornings pay off nearly always!

The monochrome original edit is dramatic, but this color shot you posted with the gold light and shine has an appeal of its own. Like you say, it is your photo, do what you want - you done good both times, Linda.
