Actually, she wasn’t a “country girl.” Her real name was Sarah Colley. She was from a wealthy family, and she was a graduate of Ward-Belmont College, a prestigious school for young ladies. She majored in theater studies and dance and was a dancing teacher for several years before she created the Minnie Pearl character that made her famous.

As soon as BLM discovers this monument they will show up to destroy it as being racist. They are destroying everything else. Eventually they are going to attempt to run wild through neighborhoods and they don't realize that these people are armed to the teeth and will not hesitate to begin shooting. We live in interesting times.

James, where is this in Nashville? I met Sarah Cannon (Minnie Pearl) many years ago in the old Nashville Airport while waiting for a plane to Charlotte. She was delightful to talk with. A very intelligent and gracious lady.

Completely inappropriate post. I can't imagine what you think BLM has against Minnie Pearl. If you believe they do, go make your own post in the Attic, where crap like this belongs.

I don't get your reasoning. As far as I know Minnie didn't own slaves or engage in armed rebellion against the federal government.

Perhaps you should check you prejudice meter. It looks like it has reached critical mass and is about to ruin your reputation.

Well, I thought I'd seen just about everything, then I encountered this sculpture of Minnie Pearl made from Chicken Wire. I guess it's appropriate. She was an old country girl after all and liked a good joke. My hat is off to the artist. This has to be a very difficult medium to work with and he did an excellent job.

Excellent accomplishment by the artist and a fine photo James. I wonder how many pairs of gloves he wore out.

Just what Hoggers don't need, ever, is injecting politics into the mix.

They probably don't even know who she is but they are attempting to destroy everything they see. They are eventually going to push things too far in this country.

James, you're correct in that is quite an accomplishment. It's also a wonderful tribute to someone who brought us some smiles and laughs. We could use a bit more of that as of late.
