Nice colorful variety - like the goats!!

Thank you for looking in on the tour again Raymond and your kind comment. As I mentioned to some of the earlier posters, I am quite fond of these goats also and love the huge variety of goats, which we will particularly see in a few days in the post to come on the famous livestock market in Nizwa and later up in the mountains.

So nice.....thanks Joe. The camel and the goats are wonderful and the vegetables are rich and vibrant looking.

Thank you Blair - it is such a wonderful and exciting world out there - I am itching to get going again - but in the meantime I have more time to post such images - and also working on my next set of albums, which will cover the North European Plain stretching over the Netherlands, Germany and into Poland. No goats or camels there, no sand dunes and even hills, but beautiful old towns with very historic half-timbered houses .... so the work goes on. Take care and have a good Sunday. Joe

I think I have caught most of them, thank you! It is always a pleasure "going back" to Oman.

Super set, WW. Great market scenes! The camel used to be the pickup truck of the area, and now they get to ride in one. Times are changing. :)

Thank you John for staying on the tour with me and taking the time to comment! Good thought on the camel and truck relationship - it can even go one step further: Just think if the truck breaks down or gets stuck in the sand, you have your alternate transportation means right there with you - talking about back-ups!

Great, good to hear. You know that you can easily go back to all the previous posts by clicking on my name weberwest besides my avatar, then clicking on the number of topics created, and the whole ongoing series is there, or any other series that I posted that you might want to look at. (there is a similar series way back on the Central Asian "Stans" and also on Iran that might interest you as they are from the same general area.

I will definitely take a look, thanks. I'd like to see the pics from Iran. I only visited once, circa 1976, when my company had a VP stationed in Tehran. After he returned, we had a service tech based there for quite a while, then came the revolution. When I returned to the US from our Mideast office in Athens, it turned out that one of my neighbors was Iranian and had been the landlord of our service tech. Small world! Our VP was named US Ambassador to Algeria and played a key role in getting the hostages released.

After the open space and solitude of the Wahiba Sands desert, we move back into the more hectic life of a small interior town: Sinaw is an old town, considered to be one of the most vital markets in the eastern region of Oman. It is an urban city with some rural features, due to the surrounding desert.

In this set, we will visit the central produce market and meet some goats.

I hope you will like these market pictures and look forward to your comments and questions.
I recommend viewing the downloads.

Thank you Bubalola, I am happy that I can contribute something a bit out of the ordinary.

BTW, I notice that you are from the Big Apple - may I ask you from which part? Before I retired in 2007, I lived 16 years in Yorktown Heights, upper Westchester and worked down in Manhattan, so the big apple and all its stems, branches and leaves are particularly dear to me!

I live in Brooklyn, Midwood section, also retired school paraprofessional, still keeping a little part time job.
Thanks for your interest.

Thank you Eugene - this is terrible but I have to admit that of all the boroughs in NYC, the only one that I know quite well is of course Manhattan, then only a few corners in Queens and the Bronx because of the Zoo, the Botanical Garden and Arthur Avenue - and that's about it. Brooklyn and Staten Island are very blank spots for me, I guess with working in Manhattan and living up in the north of the city, we just didn't get the push to go and explore different areas, though I am sure they would have been worth exploring. Have a wonderful day Eugene.
