Hi Susan - thanks for your comment - we ARE in the shopping part of this trip right now, and if fruits and veggies were not quite your thing, today we will sneak a look at a very colorful ladies' fabric store as well as some (rather heavy) local jewelry designs - shop as much as you want!

...you have been providing us with some amazing images...Thank you
Thank you SkyKing for looking in and your kind comment. I am glad you liked my images.
BTW, I see that you are from NY - before moving here to WA state, we lived for 16 years in Yorktown Heights in upper Westchester!

...you are definitely a long way from Yorktown heights...while itβs been hot here you have had temperatures above 100...
Your work is truly amazing, and the commentary wonderful. Thank you so much for taking the time to share a glimpse into what is in many ways a world apart.

A great set. But a camel in the bed of a Toyota?
I agree - great set but, yes, the camel in the pickup seems a bit ironic.

It definitely will be hot in Oman - but that trip was 4 years ago - here in WA state, we are still waiting for the summer - are still in the 60's and it is almost still sweater time - I do long for some hotter temps!
Excellent and colorful series, Joe.

Thank you very much Tdearing for looking in on our tour and your kind comments - I am very pleased that you like this presentation - it has been ongoing for 3 weeks already and we are not in the middle yet, so please keep looking!

Thanks Ed for looking in on this series and I agree that transporting a camel is rather unusual, possibly it came from quite some distance to be brought to the market, also it looks like it is quite a young one. Enjoy the show!

Thank you Earnest for yet again another nice comment!
A long time ago I worked in Athens, in the Mideast office of a US company, and my favorite field visit was to Oman. It was very different to be greeted by a female immigration officer at the airport, just as an example. It was a typical business trip, but our distributor was a local Omani company, mostly staffed by Indians, and one of them took me on a drive along the coast. An amazing landscape as you have captured so well here. And the goats were walking around Muscat :).
You may already have read it, but I recommend a beautiful novel by Jokha Alhabarthi called Celestial Bodies. It covers an Omani family as move from traditional life to modern life in Oman. I found it fascinating.
Nice colorful variety - like the goats!!

After the open space and solitude of the Wahiba Sands desert, we move back into the more hectic life of a small interior town: Sinaw is an old town, considered to be one of the most vital markets in the eastern region of Oman. It is an urban city with some rural features, due to the surrounding desert.
In this set, we will visit the central produce market and meet some goats.
I hope you will like these market pictures and look forward to your comments and questions.
I recommend viewing the downloads.

Thank you Harald for looking in on our tour and your kind comment. You have an interesting story and I am glad that my posts could re-kindle some pleasant memory from years past. I will look whether I can get the book you mentioned. Thank you for looking - and I invite you to stay on the trip if you are interested - did you notice the earlier posts along the coast?).
Super set, WW. Great market scenes! The camel used to be the pickup truck of the area, and now they get to ride in one. Times are changing. :)
