The weekly challenge from my camera club this week is cell phone photos. This was created with just the original photo (with some basic processing) a texture layer and some hue adjustments. I used the Darker Color blend mode on the texture layer to create the effect of merging the two layers. It was the curve and shape of the leaves that originally caught my eye.
Do you think this works as an abstract photo or would you just consider it something you would use as a texture or background layer?
The weekly challenge from my camera club this week... (show quote)
This exercise reminds me a bit of a series made by Russ Borud of dried oak leaves - could be worth some study- not to imply that either are superior as abstracts, just to experience the various abstract perceptions elicited by each.
from section manager: Russ Borud is UHH user rborud.
I offer these for consideration only because, for my eye they all elicit a similar realm of perception of the surreal involving a relief in depth from the BG... much as you posted examples do.
