I cannot recall where I saw this or to which stated it referred, but one state made it illegal for a male motorcyclist to have another male as a passenger unless that passenger is a family member.

Of course there are many male "bikers" who state the only way another male will be permitted as a passenger is if the passenger rides backward and holds a gas can.

Back in the 80s on a notorious road here (the Kew Boulevard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bJVeZIDeXQ ), used as a motorcycle testing ground for more than a century I sat facing backwards
on the pillion seat of a friends and skilled motorcyclists (Courier) well sorted Yam FJ1100 facing backwards watching the scenery rapidly diminish

We were foolish indeed as that stretch of road has much (unpredictable) traffic... cars, bicycles pedestrians
et al, and a litany of very bloody tragedies. Yet still, every day of the week there's bike and often fast and expensive car drivers proving how foolish they are.

In Illinois, and sometimes Pennsylvania (depending on the ticketboi) stopping isn't enough.
You stop, look both ways- ~nobody~. You pull thru- and the sirens come on.
Ticketboi has decided that a stop from 3 to 5 seconds can be required for proper judgement.
