Viveza 2 questions

I have the Nik Collection that Google updated when they owned it. It's a plug-in to my LR. I just recently started using it again since I have more time on my hands cooped up. Two questions...

1. I use Global adjustments first then go to Selective controls but how do I go back to Global if I need to? So far I've had to exit back to LR then back to Viveza for Global...a bit cumbersome.

2. How do I get rid of the zoom function when I want to use Selective Controls? It seems to show the little negative sign when I place the cursor over the image and the Selective Control on the image doesn't work.

By the way I asked DxO, who now owns Nik, and they refused to answer my questions since I didn't purchase this version from them. They can't answer a question or even point me to the answer because they didn't get paid...really? They bought it and should have some responsibility, at least to answer a pretty simple question.

Thanks for your help.

David

David,
After you have done what you want with the selective controls, just click anywhere inside the image. That takes you back to Global settings.

DXO's just supports their own versions of the Nik Collection. I don't believe there should be any expectation of support for versions released prior to their ownership of it. Once they go down that road DXO would be opening itself up to support questions from potentially thousands of users of previous Goggle or Nik versions who have had no support for years. DXO supports the products it sells. Why should they support previous versions released by Google and Nik? Supporting non-DXO versions of the Nik Collection would cost them time and money. They are a small company running a for profit business. How many small for profit companies do you know who provide support for products they did not sell?

You didn’t answer my questions. And I have no desire to get into a discussion of corporate responsibility in this forum.

I don't recall Google updating anything with the Nik collection, merely using the proprietary code for their own purposes. To them, Nik was a throwaway after getting what they wanted out of it.

The updates to the suite were because of DXO, not Google. I'm not sure I disagree with their refusal to help with an outdated product you use that they never provided you. Why not call Google, see what they say.

I am glad they put their money into keeping Nik a viable software set and continue to update. I use DXO all the time and supported their adding Nik by purchasing it when it first was available, even without much, if any, difference to the free Google collection.

Bob is right, when there are no point selections active, any adjustments are by default, global.

Then don't complain DXO didn't answer your question.

So delete my "complaint" and just read the facts.

The only facts left after you delete the complaint is you don't know how to use Viveza and DXO wouldn't support a product they didn't sell you. Look to the post from Linda, it's a good answer.

Actually, you brought up the subject, not me. In your criticism of DXO for not answering your question you specifically said, "They can't answer a question or even point me to the answer because they didn't get paid...really? They bought it and should have some responsibility, at least to answer a pretty simple question." By saying this, you started a discussion on corporate responsibility and opened the door for my reply when I disagreed. If you don't want to see replies which disagree with criticisms you post here, the best way to accomplish that is not to make them in the first place. Unfair criticisms stay on the internet forever.

1. Just click anywhere outside the image to get back to global adjustments
2. At the top of the Right of the Viveza work space is a series of icons for Cursor, Move(Hand), + & -... just click on the cursor button or "A" keyboard shortcut for the cursor to get out of magnify function. Keyboard shortcut for zoom is "Z" on/off.

My version is DxO but I used to have Google and it worked the same way.

This is an open forum. You posited your position and the responder addressed your statement. That’s how this works. You complained about the corporation. Responding to that is fair game.

If I may, you did mention "DXO".
First permit me a disclaimer: I don't work for DXO in any capacity whatsoever. I am a customer who uses their products.
In their defense, I have found DXO to be a reputable company that stands by the products they market. They didn't market the Google-owned NIK Collection.
With all due respect, your question may be "simple" but not pertinent and thus unfair.

Just for the record, DxO announced on October 25, 2017, the acquisition of Nik Collection from Google and has since continued to develop it. So, it would seem to me that DXO would have also acquired the responsibility of supporting the product from that point on.
