Holy cow - 14 PAGES of comments? I use whatever I have handy, and I was happy to get the best iPhone so that when needed I had it ready. I prefer to use my DSLR, but when a bobcat is trotting up your street, you don't have time to grab the preferred tool.

Nice photo of the stone work, the yard and the house across the street, the cat on the side walk, well not so much, just looks like a cat on the side walk.

You can post on social media using a mirrorless camera. See this post.

I'll try to do a better job the next time a bobcat walks up the street.

I notice the Cellphone contest is strictly cellphone photos.
Is that any different than using a dslr.
Are there contests for all types of cameras or they segregated contests?

Most of the time the camera type doesn’t matter. Use the camera you like.

Sometimes, not always, they require raw fines then you have to use a camera that can generate raw files. You can get raw fines from some “sell” phones.

I have a 20 year old Camedia C2000. 2MP. It takes post card quality 4x6 prints!
If I am going to shoot a landscape and blow it up to 16X20 or greater - I will use my full frame DSLR instead!
So it all depends on what you are going to view the final output on!
