Spider From my Kitchen Window. What Kind?
I've been watching this Spider for over a week. The web has been completely wipe out or damaged and it patches it every day. If you look closely you can see that it's mending the web. I often watch her eat her breakfast. Yuck but interesting. Today I noticed the markings on the tummy. Looks almost like a crusader's shield.
What kind of spider is it?
Spider
Fergus, I can't help you with the ID, but your download is a .psd file. I could open it with an external viewer, but you might get better response if you could repost as a .jpg file.
Thanks Larry. I'll try it.
They are plentiful here in WI as well....I was told it was a non poisonous european hobo, but not sure if accurate......it will be interesting to follow responses to your post!
Looks like an Orb Weaver of sorts. ALL spiders are poisonous. But most can't hurt you because their fangs are too small. And of the ones that can, only a very, very few are deadly.

Like your spider. I don't know much about them but I had one living inside my kitchen window: I ended up feeding her flies that I swatted outside, making me look like a crazy person. She was an orb spider, very interesting, very shy. I tried to relocate her outside but she freaked and I ended up bringing her back inside! Found her in a rinsed-out wineglass one morning, getting a drink of water. I learned a lot from her, and actually cried when I found her dead.
Which probably makes me sound like a crazy person.

Actually, rather touching. My son rescues spiders out of his shower and moves them outside so they don't die in the water.
Looks like the flip side to mine......

This is a Cross Orb Weaver. A great hunter of insects.
