instead of school and work my daughter an family were home when a mother duck got bullied by another and flew off from their pond. The other ducks started to attack the ducklings left behind which were only a few says old. Dad and daughters were in the pond waist deep while my daughter overlooked the rescue operation and gleefully said she only got a boot full of water where the others went in fully clothed.. (Its a big pond) Erin the youngest aged 14 is now mother to them and they sleep in her bedroom at night under a heat lamp I have and they have a compound in the garden with a nice pond for then to swim in.. As this all happened two days ago and luckily I can now go and see them as we are a bubble family with the covid 19 rules as of the 13th I went over with my camera... There are 6 in total.. They are not fully water proof yet so one or two have to be warmed up after a swim and its such a hard job to cuddle them to warm them up..

Nice photos! A great story that does show people can be good to our environment and to those who share it with us. We brought up ducks indoors-very messy and stinky, but worthwhile for us!

Thanx for sharing.

Thank you very much Donna, glad they made your day. This is the first time I have been able to get pictures of them so tiny as they have always been with Mom before. Sarah used to think that the ducklings that went missing before were taken by a fox or mink but being home she saw it was the other mother ducks that killed them. Had it not been for the lock down they would have all died as mom was scared off by a bully duck and flew away and the others went for the ducklings.. Sarah feeds them by the pond every night along with the moorhens so it is not shortage of food and as the pond is big which leads into a smaller one there is lots of space. Must be a duck thing...

Thank you very much Sinewsworn, I am sure Erin will find that out as they are in her bedroom at night. I can see her sleeping in the lounge when she finds out just how messy and smelly they are..

Thank you very much Corky, I am staying close to home too. Sarah gets my main shop and I use the village store. I walk Blue and that has been it. I can now go to Sarah's to see them all as we are a bubble family. It was great to hug them all after so long. You both take care too..

Thanks, Val, and glad that everyone is ok and that you can visit with your loved ones in the bubble family and know that really helps! We are ok but never imagined that something like this would occur, but things could be worse. I am making the grocery trip by myself as Ellen is diabetic and otherwise we are staying close to home. Yesterday, we had to forgo a visit by my niece and family from Denver Colorado. They are visiting friends and family in Virginia and Texas and we had planned to have a careful lunch with them outside but a Nor'easter has been dumping rain and unseasonable cool weather at us for the past few days. We also reluctantly canceled our annual family reunion for Ellen's side of the family which we have hosted at our home for the last twenty-nine years. It's always scheduled for the first Sunday in July and has been held since 1960 with the exception of only one year before this one. There are usually around thirty people attending and is always very much fun with some staying over until Tuesday or Wednesday, but just too much of a chance and didn't want them ending in sadness!... On the brighter side, we are enjoying our perennial garden and other flowers, birds, and insects as it makes a great temporary escape from our problems. You guys and the pups take care and we always love to hear from you! Corky and Ellen
