Okay, Jambulee, you've convinced me. Following are three shots from my favorite photographic genre: Flora. I never cease to be amazed at the intricate designs and colors in the creation of a flower.

hey gizzy it not about winning but about submitting the ones YOU really really care about. It's all way to subjective to float every ones boat.

Wow! Amazing shots. This is also one of my favorite genres but I can't seem to get results like yours! I especially love the third picture!

Here is one more from my backyard. I took it on 9/24. I think it is within the time frame.

Welcome to Ugly Hedgehog's very first Photography Contest. This will be a community run Bi-Monthly contest, open to all members of Ugly Hedgehog.

The rules will be relatively simple.
1. Entry to have been taken in the last month unless otherwise specified by the contest host (please do not go thru your achieves).
2. Theme will be picked by the Contest Host.
3. Contest will run for 2 weeks, after which the Contest Host will pick the winner.
4. You may enter up to 3 photos per contest.
5. The entry must be your own work.
6. Entries to be uploaded directly by entrants to the Contest Thread.
7. Contest Host will be determined by the previous Contest.
8. New rules may be added as the Bi-Monthly Contest grows and morphs.

I do hope that the Contest Hosts will provide feedback as to why they picked the entry that they did, but please remember this is for fun. I have volunteered to manage the contest overall, that does not mean I will judge entries (unless I am the Contest Host that week), or sway judging.

So with that, here is the first challenge:
Theme: Your City/Neighborhood
Due: October 30, 2011
Winner will be selected by: November 4th

Please post your entries in this thread for consideration.
Good Luck and get there and shot something!

Just gorgeous gizzy, I had a feeling we had something in common I love photographing flowers especially in Macro. I'll post some in the future.

Oh yes, Jambulee, I'll sometimes spend hours and hours out in the bush along trails, down on the ground, taking shots of the wee-littlest no-name flowers, and then when I get back in and download and view/crop to actual size... WOW! the colors and details blow me away. It just simply seems impossible that God's creations in nature can be so diverse, so intricate, and so pleasing to the eye of the beholder.

You guys are making this difficult. Just when I think I have my top 5 narrowed down, someone posts one more that makes me go back to my list.

So, "gizzy.whicker" if you feel that way, imagine how us neophytes feel…."inadequate" maybe? But I think I am "teachable" so I will make myself post :-)

Well now PatoGraphy, don't go getting all high-fluttin' on me, here. I can't even spell neophytes, let alone be expected to know what it means.

Look at that, I can't even "post" right. Think I'd better get back to practicing the violin - might do better at that!

Oh... so you're a violin player, huh. You should take a look at a couple of video clips I filmed last week; a girl just turned age 12, (Amelia Eisenhauer) won first place Junior Division, and placed 3rd overall in the Illinois State Old Time Fiddle Contest: Youtube: search for "TheGizzywhicker" and you'll find her there. She's truly an amazing talent. Probably should keep an eye on her, she'll likely go to the top of the charts here one day soon.

I hope it isn't about winning!!! While it would be an honor to be chosen...I don't know as I really want to because then I would have to choose the next winner and how could I ever choose? :?:

Just wanted to say I've viewed all the photos posted and there are beautiful and amazing shots in here.

Congratulations everyone, for outstanding work!

The final outcome is going to be a heart wrenching decision.

You're all winners, in one way or another.

Blessings to all.

:-)
