My neighborhood was flooded in September...and a local tried to drive out. When his car got stuck he called the Rescue Squad. You can just about make out the car in the water. Maybe not the greatest pic, but def tells a local story.

Annabelle, you would have been rolling on the beach laughing if you had seen me trying to do this. I'm too embarassed to tell you how many tries it took!
I had the camera on a tripod and was trying out my new wireless remote. Half the time I couldn't tell if the thing was working. I got a whole lot of pictures of myself checking to see if the bloody light was blinking! I had to go home and take a nap after this excursion!
That is hysterical, but totally can understand and I am sure I would do the same thing!

Yeah Frank, I was referring to Sudique, when she wrote about trying to take photo of herself on the beach with her tripod and new wireless remote.
It is right above my statement.

Hi Sudique. Thanks for clarifying the colors on your Chicago Bean Photo. I knew something was probably amiss, but couldn't quite place it. However, that being said, I'm so happy you had the camera set on the wrong white balance, it's a totally unique and beautiful photo. Maybe you can remember what you did wrong so you can do it again. A couple of weeks ago I was hiking down along the river and saw a white morning glory, on a dark, overcast day. I set the white balance for Flash, because I wanted just a wee tweak of fill-flash, and then promptly forgot to flip up the on-board flash. The resulting photo had such a wonderfully warm, cream-tinted glow to it that I'm now using that "mistake" more often than not in similar situations.

Gizzy - just remembered. The reason the colors look the way they do is because I had the camera set on the wrong white balance. Go figure!

That's what I MEAN. We need some way to find a particular picture! This thread is great, but it's really long and there are a lot of pages, so it's really easy to miss stuff. I know I'm not seeing all the pictures, but I'd like to!
Frank Bruce, my friend, remember you posted the original of your Drained Lake because the one you posted earlier was over-cooked... remember that? Okay, this copy I'm returning to the post is tweaked "just right" in PSE using the slider bars of Shadows & Highlights. It's all this photo needs. Any more cooking will only result in further frustrations in trying to "get this right". It's a wonderful photograph. Perfectly composed and exposed. You did a superb job. So stop trying to cook the darn thing further, you're giving me a headache!!!
