Very well done. I too have tried to get acceptable shots of these elusive critters but so far no luck. They are too quick for this old man! So far!

I just wrote a private response to PaulBrit who inquired about focus method. For the last two shots I was pre-focused on the perched bird and started shooting away when the other bird flew in. BBF is the key to this method.

Possibly the most difficult bird yet (for me at least) to get a quality BIF shot. Might be easier if they had a nesting site nearby.

These birds are erratic and unpredictable in flight while feeding. Luckily, one perched on my neighbor's boat antenna and the other came to investigate. All tightly cropped except for the last.

Enjoy.

Those Swallows can turn on a dime and can catch a lot of insects while they're at it. I watch they feed every time I mow the fields......very cool to see.

I know from experience that it's extremely difficult to photograph these guys in flight. You nailed it. Great stuff.

My Nikon D750 doesn’t appear to have that feature. I’m looking at the User’s Manual. Any other name for the feature?

Review this video and let me know how you do.

Using BBF takes some getting used to since you will use your right thumb to focus and your right index finger to release the shutter. You can always go back if you choose but most people will stay on BBF.

That was extremely helpful. I have now got BBF set up, assigned to the AE-L/AF-L button. Now all that remains is I wander outside and take a selection of photographs and then view the results on my computer. Thank goodness for digital photography.

As we used to say in the old country, you are a real gent!
