It’s the second best crop frame Nikon makes right now. Highly regarded. Look at camera decision on the web to get info and performance specs. Some will say the D7200 is better. Today it’s on sale at B&H for $1196.95 with a 18-55. And a 70-300. Both are VR DX lens.

It's just a notch below the D500. Whoever says the D7200 is better, don't know DSLR's...and why is this thread a plug for the D7500?

I don’t know if you are responding to me since you did not use quote reply. If you were replying to my post then I would say that many folks on UHH think the D7200 is a better choice. At least that is what I read in the threads. BTW I’m not plugging anything. I used to shoot Nikon gear but now I shoot with full frame and mirrorless Canon equipment. My wife shoots with a Nikon D3500 which is a great little budget camera BTW. Thanks and have a good day

My mistake, i misunderstood. i think some people are saying the D7200 is a better choice just because it has a few more pixels, in the real world there is no difference in photo quality and the D7500 is much better for sports. Have a nice Memorial Day.

I have a D7500, two D500's, and a D750. The D7500 is a great camera. It has the same sensor as the D500. They have added Group-Area AF. That's very useful. Group-Area AF is five autofocus points that act as one. They have finally figured out the best place for the ISO button. It's now right behind the shutter button. Having only one card slot is no problem.

D7500 may accept the older pre-Ai lenses where the D7200 does not.

Not sure why you are flaming me with all caps in your response as you don’t usually do that in your responses to other people. At any rate the OP who is new to the site asked for comments and tips. From the OP we have no idea if he has a D7500, wants one or is just curious. I provided a few general comments, pointed them to a site which gives detailed info, and pointed them to a reputable site that is selling the combo for $300 off. Since you are a very accomplished photographer (based on your work) and have owned a camera shop I think, maybe you could enlighten the OP. Thanks and have a great day.

As the D7200 is older than the D7500, it makes sense that the opposite is true.

The differences I see on the Nikkor Lens Compatibility Chart are:

AI Lens
D7200-Full Compatibility
D7500-Limited Compatibility (Exposure cannot be metered TTL. Must use a light meter)

AF-P Lens
D7200-Limited Compatibility (May require a firmware update)
D7500-Full Compatibility

E-Type Lens
D7200-Full Compatibility
D7500-Full Compatibility (Some restrictions apply to PC/PC-E lenses)

AF, AF-S Lens
Both are fully compatible

But it won't meter with either while the D7200 would meter with the AI/AI-s lenses. So that makes the D7500 equal to the D5xxx and D3xxx series in this regard. Also you may be able to use Pre-AI lenses on the D7500 without damaging it but not recommended by Nikon.

I agree. My Nikon D7100 broke over the summer and wanted a new camera. I think one for the reasons the D7500 got a bad review was because of the single card reader. I was looking at D500 and D750 during the holidays and my wife (the boss) said NO! In February (before all the closing and shutdown), I purchase a D7500 at the local camera store in Greenville NC. I love it. I was a good. If the would had let me purchase a camera on Black Friday, I would had gotten the D750, because it marked down to $950, but that shop had sail and glad and satisfy with the D7500. It's good camera. It has the processors as the D500. I think the D7500 is good camera.

Best DSLR DX Nikon makes. (D500 doesn't even have a built-in flash!)
