I've many times asked my Jewish friends how any of them could be Liberal or Progressive, and the answer seems to lie in the fact that they've never faced a deadly threat like the Holocaust. Yes, there's a lot of discrimination, but you'll find a great number of anti-war Jews, no matter what war. There's a huge contingent of Liberals in Israel who want peace at nearly any cost.

Here in the U.S., most of them are between one and three generations removed from knowledge concerning the Holocaust, and what Jews faced even in other countries.

Jews have a long history of nonacceptance by Gentiles. Starting in the middle ages, they were pretty much banned from the craft guilds. The Jews who had migrated from Eastern Europe weren't wanted in Western Europe.

However, being banned from the craft guilds wasn't all bad. Many of them accumulated huge riches among the mercantile class. Being flush with gold, they trusted their own to account for their riches. Once the word got out that they, as a rule, could be relied on for honesty and confidentiality, it wasn't long before the guilds, especially goldsmiths, began to trust them as a third party in gold dealing. That was the start of the banking industry. They soon figured out that they could loan out more than they had on hand, and the first reserve banking came about.

This is a slight oversimplification of the history, but you get the point. The term "Jew Banker" while a slur, does have its start in history.

I'm not so far removed from the Holocaust as some. Grandpa blew his way out of Solibor concentration camp; was shot in the head and left for dead. Got up and walked to the front lines and freedom. Short version of the story. Dad I know not much about save that he was there during the war and wouldn't speak a word on it. Hundreds of my extended family were k**led by the N**i's as were so many many others.

To answer your question - "Jews will not replace us" is a statement we've heard before - and so did Grandpa in 1930's Germany. The "there were fine people on both sides" comment sets a position that is abhorrent and utterly intolerable. I'm a conservative, I believe in the 2nd amendment, small government, conservative economics, and human rights. I used to be proud of belonging to the Republican Party - I am very sad at what it has become.
