I have taken many pics of my wife's beautiful Iris but never thought of doing it over in B&W. Think I'll give it a try thanks to your work. Very very nice indeed! Thanks for sharing.

Great example where both mediums work equally. Well maybe the B&W works a little bit better

Beautiful photos, John. I prefer it in color. The color is so rich and the background is easier to comprehend.

Both images are nice. There is a slight problem with the b&w image. The texture (which is one of the key elements of b&w) in the flower competes with the texture in the background. You need a better separation of the two.

Personally, For capturing the beauty of a Flower, COLOR IS A MUST.
B&W, in my opinion, is better suited for Buildings, old Barns, Signs, Fences, old Cars, sometimes people, etc. Anytime you might want to express age, as in Old.
